As Russia begins a new phase in its invasion of Ukraine,... intensifying its offensive against the country's eastern Donbas region,... global leaders have pledged more military support for Ukraine.
They say their common goal is to make sure Ukraine's military is strong enough to resist Russian aggression.
Kim Hyo-sun has more.
Major world leaders have vowed to send more artillery to Ukraine amid Russia's all-out offensive in the eastern part of the country.
U.S. President Joe Biden spoke with his British and Canadian counterparts as well as other allied leaders in a video call on Tuesday,... aimed at addressing their continued support for Ukraine.
The call was also attended by leaders of Germany, Italy and Poland.
Following the 90-minute call,... White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters that the leaders reaffirmed their commitment to providing Ukraine with security, economic, and humanitarian assistance.
She added that Washington will continue to supply ammunitions and military aid to Ukraine.
The news comes as the Pentagon confirmed that shipments of the latest round of U.S. military assistance to Ukraine,... which includes heavier weapons systems,... have started to arrive in the region.
Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz noted that the goal of dozens of nations is to make Ukraine's military capable of resisting Russian aggression.

"We have asked the German arms industry to tell us what material it can supply in the near future. Ukraine has now made a selection from this list and we are providing it with the money necessary for the purchase."

The UK is looking at ways to supply anti-ship missiles to Ukraine.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson added his country also has other options under consideration.
Against this backdrop,... Ukraine says Russia's full offensive against its eastern Donbas region has begun,... with top officials describing it as the "second phase" of the war.
The country's defense ministry explained that the aim of Moscow's new military offensive in the east is to take full control of the region, and create an over-ground link between territories in the east and Crimea.
