Ubuntu DDE - Ubuntu 20.04 + Deepin | Better than GNOME 3.36

Ubuntu DDE is the upcoming super stunning linux distro based on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and Deepin Desktop Environment. Ubuntu DDE remix is a combination of worlds most powerful ubuntu linux 2020 with Deepin desktop.

We all know that deepin is one of the most beautiful desktop environment. Its fast, elegant but sadly its not deserved the attention that it should because of its origins. But, the upcoming ubuntu 20.04 with Deepin Desktop 5.0 will change the whole linux world. Ubuntu 20.04 DDE is not officially endorsed by canonical & its not an official flavour of ubuntu. The default release of ubuntu 20.04 or Ubuntu 2020 is scheduled to be released on April 23rd 2020. Unlike standard Ubuntu 20.04 LTS which uses GNOME 3.36 as a default desktop environment, Ubuntu DDE Remix is a project inspired by the lead developer ARUN KUMAR of combining the ubuntu 20.04 with deepin desktop environment.

Since, the deepin desktop has built using a QT framework and its very fast & quick compared to GTK based GNOME Edition. Everything is snappy through out the system. But as of know Ubuntu DDE is in beta and i have noticed some issues with settings application and some minor system crashes which is expected. Over all, Ubuntu DDE remix is a combination of all new DEEPIN 5.0 with ubuntu 20.04 gives a next level linux desktop experience over the standard GNOME edition.

I think if it becomes an official Ubuntu flavor then it can be a serious competitor to plasma and gnome.

It's a shame the Manjaro team didn't have the stones to keep this desktop around. Really looking forward to this coming out of beta. Gaining official status would be awesome as well.

i tried ubuntu deepin and was stuck with so many issues... from display issues to bluetooth devices issues.. to nvidia drivers not supporting the display and advanced window effects.. my graphic card is rtx 2070 super. So, i eventually ended up removing it and switched to manjaro. The community support was also very bad.

I installed it dual boot with windows 10 and somehow when it was updating after the screen locked the language changed to Hindi.. I realized this when I clicked on virtual keyboard icon on log in screen.. now I can’t log in into UbuntuDDE... please help me with the issue... I don’t want to install again

It suggest that reviewers stop claiming that GTK apps are slow compared to QT. There are many examples of GTK apps where that's not true, or at least I run GNOME 3.34 presently on Fedora 31 and GNOME/GTK apps are plenty fast and snappy, and I hear that GNOME 3.36 is even snappier. Performance is NOT an issue with any of the desktops any longer unless you have insufficient hardware. Deepin is cool, but I prefer the elegance and simplicity of GNOME with the Adwaita Dark Theme with the Dash to Panel extension and a few minor other extensions.
