Acer Nitro 5 2023 first impressions! The change to 16:10 is a nice one. The price will determine whether this is a hit in 2023. Hope everyone is doing well!

Big battery and removal of the 2.5" drive bay, about time!

It's good to know that Nitro 5 is improving for the better. I still use my Acer Nitro 5 from early 2021 (AN515-55). The change to 16 :10 screen ratio will definitely improve the use for my professional work (other than gaming). 😄

ACER makes the best budget gaming laptops hands down. I'm still rocking a Helios 300 from 2018 with Core i7 8750H + GTX 1060 6GB + 32GB RAM. While the laptop initially ran hot out of the box, after undervolting the CPU & GPU along with new thermal paste, it was the fastest 8750H+1060 combo of that time, and it still is. I'm not a heavy gamer, I bought the laptop mainly for MATLAB & AutoCAD and this thing still flies in 2023. My screen is 60Hz which is fine for me, but its beautiful with 98% sRGB.

My oldest boy is going off to college in the fall of 2023. He’s always used a desktop but our plan is to get him his first gaming laptop for school. I’m really looking forward to your gaming laptop reviews so we can pick out the best one for him.

definitely a client of Acer here. Ending 2021 I was looking for a gaming laptop, where gpu prices for desktop where insane, laptops were the option. Best switch i have ever did. I endep up buying an ACER NITRO 5 17.3 inch. 144hz with 3060gpu, with an insane fair price of 999 euros, it came with 8gb of ram so i have to buy new ram but still the best price by far that i found.

Still using it now, im gaming, editing with this laptop at the date, no problem at all, have to tweak the voltages for lower temperatures but thats normal in laptops.

Hand down to acer, they are making GOOD, durable, price performance laptops. I would definitely buy another with a newest gpu. But so far this model that i have still rocking it.

I have the old one with 10th gen i7 and 1660Ti, its nice to use but gets really hot on the keyboard, the fan noise is loud too. Nice to see the Nitro 5 has evolved so much

I still use my Acer Nitro 5 2018, I7 8gen, still doing amazingly with 32gb of ram and 500gb m.2 ssd. I'm a fan of the nitro 5, it's a good laptop for it's price point

Got the 3070 ti with 6800H version for ~$900, absolute freaking steal... it also has 1440p with 165hz, I manually upgraded its 1 TB SSD to 2 and 16 gb ddr5 ram to 32 for $120, super worth it

First review of a 2023 laptops let's go!
After watching the videos some thoughts are as follow:

-It's seems that we're basically getting an HS series of the 6900HX since it's Zen 3 with new naming scheme.
- Digging the new look although the logo on the screen could be a tad more subtle.
- Old keyboard but we have a turbo mode like the Helios 300 from yesteryear.
- Still waiting on that RTX 4070 reviews. This embargo period is really coming up. Pretty sure it's around February since that's where all the sales kick in.

Can't wait to see how capable those chips are. Hopefully those new naming scheme gets an upgrade over last time cause otherwise, we're basically getting the 6900HS.

The QHD version is interesting, will have to see how prices compare to Legion 5i Pro

Last year i bought nitro 5, cant really agree with saying its a budget laptop. Overall i really like it, so far all games i played runs smooth and good at ultra settings. The only thing i hate is how hot laptop gets. On games like rdt2, roe, csgo, dayz it gets up to 94celsius. Bought cooling pad, so its little better now, up to like 89-90. Price was about 2200 euro, it was on discout + got extra discout since it was last laptop they had on the store(display model), so paid 1800euro for it.
Specs are:
17inch
Rtx3080
Qhd 165hz
AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX
16gb of ram
1tb ssd

It's about time I upgraded my 2017 Nitro 5 model😆. The reason I waited so long is I wasn't particularly pleased with the newer ones but this one is probably gonna be the one for me.

I never thought to compare my nitro 5 to others, they all seemed the same - at least visually. Now I’m wondering which year had THE BEST price to performance? Is it going to be 2023?

looks good but i think they wont be appealing to the budget segment anymore. But still a Great laptop if the price is right and performance

What I want is more $1500-$2000 midrange ultraportable options in the ballpark of 3.75-4.25lb/1.7-1.9kg.

More G14-style vapor chamber 14/14.5-inchers packing a 100-125W 7700S or 4060-4070 Mobile inside? Sure. How about something like an slimmer 16-inch version of the Xenia 15/MAG-15R sporting an 85-110W 6600S or 4050/4050TI Mobile? Yes, please! 🙏
