I find it interesting that Eyk is an anagram for key, and Daniel an anagram for denial

I just read 1899 was CANCELLED and I am FURIOUS!!! 😡 Hoping another channel picks it up. 🙏

I definitely think we could be looking at a past, present, and future type of storyline too, with each side of the triangle representing the past, present, and future. This would mean Maura was in the past in 1899, is now in the future in 2099, and I think it will be revealed that the actual time of this show is 1999, which would explain why Ciaran communicates with her through an older computer.

Something in episode 7 really bothers me. Henry is watching the monitors and says that everyone keeps dying because they make the same decisions based on emotions and that makes them weak. But how can they be expected to learn anything and improve if their memories are wiped between every simulation round?

4:10 I think the “sink ship” message can be interpreted as _sync_ ship, because they asked for the Kerberos to be uploaded to the archive

Daniel has his own room since the trapdoor under his bed leads to his memories. So I think Daniel was initially part of the ship simulation, but snapped out of it somewhere along the way

I think they went into the simulation fully aware of what it was, not necessarily how to play it, but they knew what they were getting into. When Maura woke up, she just seemed ready, prepared. I don't think a person from 1800 would have such a natural response to being in SPACE, she hadn't even reacted to it.

For question 6, Krester (if that's even his real name) doesn't have a scar in the spaceship, so the passenger's backstories being real is pretty unlikely

1899 had the technology to create a mostly safe scenario in the middle of nowhere like the ship but not the communication technology of today, so you only need to simulate a limited area that nobody would question why they can't leave it nor would you have to fake the receivers of calls. The spaceship basically has the same conditions.

Question 34- If the year is really 2099, then why does Kieran message Maura on a really old-looking computer monitor?

Came here from David Lightbringer's recommendation. I'm super sad that Netflix cancelled 1899, but this channel's doing a great job at filling the void that not getting a season 2 has caused

Ciaran can also be not an actual human, but an AI that controls the ship and the simulation. Just like in all those other sci-fi movies, where passengers and crew travel to the new destination and go to sleep for several years. Someone has to control the ship. After all he contacts Maura through a computer screen, not directly in person.

Another cool fact - I was blown away when I looked up when the Flashlight was invented - 1899!

For a big theory you should consider:
Mauras Mother had 2 kids and lost a part of herself to them. Is Maura the mother?
Why are there so many characters with scars.
Dont forget Platos cave. And the question, how many layers there are.

If you shine light trough a prism (its not a pyramid its a tetraeder) you get the spectral colors. What happens if you shine your soul through a prism? Maybe the different aspects of yourself come to sight. So if all the characters are just different aspects of 1 person, what do they all have in common? Many of them have scars, they all have lost someone in the past, maybe they are responsible for the loss. There are different mother roles under the characters.

Great video! A lot to think about before season 2.

About question 12 & 19. I think it's implied Daniel wasn't tricked into the simulation like everyone else and is sneaking in to wake up his wife. That's why he says "you're all trapped here" without including himself in it. He also seems to have information about what's been going on in their reality after Maura and her father were locked in the simulation, information he can only have if he was present in that reality:
"You're trapped here. You all are. This isn't real. This is a simulation. You forgot what's real. But you have to remember. You have to wake up. Or there will be nothing left to wake up for, and your consciousness will be trapped in here forever." Episode 7
"Your brother, he took over the whole program whilst you were in here. He's been controlling everything. And I've tried so hard to get you out of here, multiple times. Your father is just as stuck here as everyone else. I don't know how fast your brother is gonna figure out what I've done. But you have to leave now. This is so much bigger than you think. You have to wake up. You have to stop him, or everything will be lost." Episode 8

About question 13. I think Daniel we see several things indicating he didn't wanted to start a mutiny. Daniel kept repeating it was a bad idea to turn around, that there was going to be a mutiny. And he seems sincerely not happy to see it happened. If he needed this to stop Eyk from turning back, for example, why kill Ada before Eyk made that decision? And why use his device to return the boat to its starting point? If he could do this on his own, no need for mutiny. I think Daniel didn't want to draw the attention of whoever's leading the simulation. However, using the Prometheus to infiltrate aboard triggered a chain of events that drew attention to a problem in the simulation (which is why people start committing suicide in episode 5 when the simulation was far from over). I think he killed Ada because the girl was a computer program that spotted his hacking (symbolized by the bug).

About question 20. For me it's clearly a simulation because:
- we see the triangle in Maura's eyes;
- her brother seems mocking her by leaving the note about the coffee and welcoming her to "reality" and Maura seems pissed;
- the key to wake up was carefully hidden by Maura and could be any object. Daniel, Elliot, Henry and Sebastian searched for this item for a long time. And they want us to believe the key was around Maura's neck in the literal form of a key? And that it was in the letter from her brother, received when she woke up at the start of the simulation? It's obviously a fake key placed there to lure Maura should she ever become aware of being in a simulation and would prevent her from looking further. Hence the ironic message from her brother when she wakes up which makes her understand she is not in reality. On the other hand, I think it is possible this simulation is inspired by their real reality, which could be a good introduction to it. Plus, it would make an interesting triangle between the seasons:
- Season 1 is an illusion of reality;
- Season 2 is a reflection of reality;
- Season 3 is reality.

An answer to question 13 ( Why did Daniel kill Ada?) I think it was to try and remind Maura about the loss of Elliot. I think that the previous cycles Daniel has failed in the ways to make her remember.

The note left on the console is the give away. The message about coffee and reality kicking in features in the simulation which suggests she's still in it.

To the real era being 60s to 80s: The songs that play at the end of each episode come from mostly the 70s. The Kerberos software was developed in the early 80s.

Regarding the green beetle... It reminded me of an Egyptian scarab amulet because of how much it looked like a jewel. The scarab was used as a symbol in ancient Egypt, and considering all the pyramid references, it seemed logical to me that it tied back into Egyptian lore.

This series is to die for !!!
I thought I understood everything in the series and now I overthink my whole existence. There are so many unanswered questions. At first I thought this was all so genius and connected but now I get I was blind by the greatness of this series. I just hope we'll get our answers next season. God bless you:)
