On a fateful day, test pilot Kyle Brennan made a jump from earth into the X Universe with the iconic Xperimental Shuttle 👨‍🚀 This set in motion the events in X: Beyond the Frontier, which was released in 1999, and started the X series of games.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the X series! 🎂

For two and a half decades we have explored space, immersed ourselves in lore, managed economic empires, and fought in epic battles, through several main game releases, numerous add-ons, expansions and major updates - and we are far from done!

We would like to take this opportunity to reminisce a little about the past 25 years of X games, and have prepared a video in which Bernd Lehahn, creator of the X Universe, takes a flight down memory lane. Enjoy!

I started the series with X2 and i loved it right from the beginning. X3 was my starting point of modding these games and i am still here, now modding X4.
These games are something special - with a short way to communicate with the devs and a really nice community. I wish the X-series would be more popular and more known to players. Its a great series! 🙂

Congrats. I started with X3 and I loved X3 and all its DLCs. But I want to say, that I think X4 is a masterpiece of a space game. There is no singleplayer space game on the market, that has to offer as much as this game, not even remotely. Keep up the good work!

And shout out to Alexei Zakharov! I love his music. Some of his tracks are so good, that I get taken away from the game and just listen.

Thank you guys so much and congrats on such an amazing franchise. I've been with you since the beginning, I bought a beautiful boxed copy of X:BTF in a local software store when I was in college in 1999. I bought a copy of X-Tension from ebay and had to have it shipped from Europe because it wasn't sold in the states at that time. I was wowed by X2 and loved how the trailer brought my PC to its knees lol. The year I got married I bought X3: Reunion in 2005 and build a whole new PC just so I could run it. I've purchased every X game on release day and will continue to do so from here on out.

I have spent countless hours in these games and they have been so amazing. I have had some version of an X game on my PC constantly since 1999. You guys have done a fantastic job and I can't wait to see what you come up with next.

THANK YOU for making our dreams of traversing the galaxies as real as it can be at this point in time. You have crafted a unique experience that I can only imagine the immense pride of. I only came to learn of the X universe with X4 and bought the base game shortly after release. Ever since, it has been my go-to game for that space exploration and management itch. From first person dog fights to leisurely mining and trading, to overseer that micromanage fleets and stations. Yes, I have done it all. Even personally manned a mineral miner and trader to collect and sell resources and wares. Some may consider it boring, but such is the mind-blowing awesomeness of X4. Play it as you want!
Here's looking forward to X5 with first person boarding and planet surface bases and units =D

Mein erstes X war X2, welches ich als Kind auf einer Computer Bild Spiele CD entdeckt habe. Natürlich hab ich damals nichts verstanden, aber die Athmosphäre bei dem Teil finde ich bis heute phänomenal. Was man Egosoft wirklich anrechnen muss ist, dass sich bei jedem Titel jahrelang darum bemüht wird ihn weiter zu raffinieren. Ich habe lange daran gezweifelt, dass X4 so gut wird, wie es jetzt ist und wurde wieder positiv überrascht. Macht weiter so!

Thank you so much for these games! Just got into it a few weeks ago and already have over 200 hours. This gem somehow got by me as Kenshi did until this year. It's fantastic to discover incredible games lately- We certainly cannot rely on the triple A industry for anything good. Can't wait to see what's next!
