Small plane slams into townhouses in Oregon

In 2004, a small plane crashed into a house in the neighborhood right behind us. It destroyed the nursery (baby’s room), but thankfully no one was home. It sounded like a bomb going off when it hit….debris everywhere! I’ll never forget it.
We lived just a couple miles from the small airport and right down the street from the little zoo in Sanford, Florida. It could have killed the family, had they been home. Or fell into the zoo, just beyond the neighborhood. So tragic when these small planes crash like this.

People who fly small planes knowingly take the risks involved in flying and being passengers on those planes. It is sad when they die and nobody deserves it. But the people on the ground who did not take those risk I feel even worse for… they were not partaking in risky behavior like flying small planes. So sad.

I remember when in December 28, 1978, United Flight 173 crashed in Portland at 157th and East Burnside. I just got home and turned on the TV and saw the news about it. It crashed just less than 2 miles north of home which is seconds in flight time. Because it ran out of fuel there was no fire.
