Lead based life forms sounds like a perfect idea for a sci fi story

Carbon is unique in its ability to create stable molecular orbitals with both itself and many other elements. Furthermore, and probably most important is its covalent bond strength is ideal for enzymes to reconfigure carbon chains and produce the endless varieties of proteins that form the basis of all structure and organic chemistry. No other element has this ability. Its unlikely any advanced organic system could emerge in the absence of carbon.

I like Arvin. No BS clear explanations

All metal atoms can form delocalized bonds with other atoms of the same type. What is so important about localized (covalent) bonds?

Life on other planet depends on the planet they living on..

imagine if it was as easy as hydrogen based life forms universe would be full of life

Sulfur and chlorine can't form more than 2 bonds? Seriously?look at sulfuric acid, 1 sulfur having SIX bonds.

Imagine how heavy a lead loge form would be or a silicone based life would be crazy idk if life is meant to be tgat way.

Watching him helps me understand things i would otherwise never understand. His examples an how her exolains with the pictures its science for idiots like me😂😂😂

I would think life based on heavier elements would just do everything much more slowly.
Which makes me wonder... Aliens that exist within different temporal limits. Imagine finding an alien species that have been self aware, sapient for a billion of years, but everything in their biology just runs 1000x more slowly than us. One hour for us is like three and a half seconds for them ...

We should definitely develop plans, methods, and technologies to defeat any possible aggressive alien life forms based on Si, Ge, Sn, and Pb.

They might be made out of something other than carbon (or carbon could be replaced with something else rather from what i gather) but they would still definitely have carbon inputs for sustenance and probably some other biochemical mechanisms. But who knows maybe nature can get creative enough with as much shit there is out there whose to say nature hasnt gotten super creative and whacky with its creations

The subtext of him saying it was possible for silicon life to arise *on other planets* is that it has missed its chance here. Any attempt here would simply be gobbled up by the Carbon Crew of Chewing and Chomping before it got started.

aluminum is exceedingly low in abundance?

Abundance : Carbon makes 0.02% of earths crust and 0.007 % of the whole earth or 730 PPM . That's what's going to get us 😅 a minor element with a small efect on the earth's surface...

Damn, that’s why tin has the most isotopes

actually SiO2 is too stable and cannot be used in a Aerobic process necessary for life as we know it....

Its theoretically possible for silicone lifeforms to exist, but incredibly unlikely. One major issue is that silicone dioxide is way more stable than carbon dioxide, meaning silicone based lifeforms would have to put a lot more energy into respiration than carbon based ones. Additionally, water isnt a good option as a solvent for silicone based life forms, and with water out, theres not many options left for a good solvent. Life is an odds game, and if silicone and carbon based lifeforms are possible/present in the same place, carbon will almost always outcompete silicone.

I wonder if AI will be a silicon-based lifeform.
