Just as an addition: 70 grams was a bit heavy... I think my scale isn’t correct. Fiddlershop said the weight probably is around 62-63. That’s probably correct, because if I weigh myself, the scale always shows too high, so it’s probably the scale :P ;)

I started out with a carbon fiber bow like this about the same price. I still use it sometimes on my electric violin. Then I upgraded to a Codabow NX. Now I upgraded again to a Codabow Luma. I just got it today, and I can see what you mean about lighter bows. This is a wonderful light weight bow. I can see such a difference in my playing and how my violin sounds using it. I'm very happy with it.

I have 6 Brazilwood bows, weighing between 59 and 70 grms. I also have the Fiddlerman carbon bow, weighs at 60 grms. Weighed on a for retail commercial scale. So far have found it very compatible with my violins and my playing style.

Very good points about a beginner needing to have a bow that has nothing wrong with it -- and a beginner does not have the technique to know any better -- and about consistency, which is a practical consideration for beginners.

Thanks for the review. This one one of the products that I was curious about. Iam in the market for a new bow myself currently. SHAR Music is currently having a Dutch Auction on some very good intermediate bows that have been used as demos. FYI all.

Dear Zalta, I have several types of Bows. My recent was a UK Carbon Fibre Bow, it came FREE with A Violin.

The Carbon Fibre Bow...Had Several Problems. The MAJOR PROBLEM was it did NOT..Glide As Easily over the Strings as my wooden bows. And required more Effort!!!

Is This a problem...common to Fibre Bows Please Advice.

Hi, do you know anything about Karl Willhelm violin bows? They have  lower end carbon fibre bows,  for about $150 US. I can't find an official site though, or any reviews. I'm wondering if it's a Chinese company with a German name. Thanks

I know that a bow is very import but as a beginner I can't tell much of a difference. At what level of playing should I be concern with getting a better bow? Or will I just know.

I weighed my Fiddlerman bow and the scale result was 62 grams. Its a pretty decent bow, but I use a different bow that is a better fit for me.
