Also Belarus is the cradle of all the Slavic peoples. South of Belarusian forests, so called "Polesye" is the place where in XII century BC Proto-Slavs separated from Proto-Balts. Earlier in some 3000 BC Proto-Balto-Slavs separated from Proto-Germano-Scandinavians a bit to the west of Belarusia, in Poland.
