Fabulous cars.
Even today, look quite modern and futuristic.
I would buy a restored DS 21, in case one were available.

Thank you for this fantastic video.

Servo steering was not all appearing in other (european) cars in 1955! On the contrary, it was very unusual! The DS was again ahead of its time!

The engine was nearly always at the front on mass produced cars at this time! But front wheel drive was rather unique!

It´s thanks to the zero center wheel suspension of the front wheels that the car goes in a straight line and not deviates even with a flat tire. You can even let go of the steering wheel.

1:39 What you meant to say was "the transmission and drive wheels were positioned at the front." There was nothing revolutionary about the engine being positioned at the front.

It is said DeGaulle was very fond of this car. They say he only changed it when he had no choice. Every world leader at that time was fond of a local to them brand of car. You can see plenty of photos of them riding them. Both allies and axis guys.

The DS was really not "simple"! The most advanced, elegant and safe car in the world!

You can't blame President Dealership from not giving up his Citroen DS after all the DS saved his life and you have to recognise the Citroen DS was one of the most advanced cars of its time and still today it is admired for its advanced features l can remember seeing my first Citroen DS back in the 1960s in a country town in N.S, W Australia and the DS was parked it also was yellow with a white roof

He was just like me. Disliked german cars, but loved the french ones. Especially the Citroen!

I am also staying faithful to my DS, whatever happens!

There is no hydraulic sphere in the gasoline tank! This is pure rubbish! And the hydraulic fluid was red from the start. The green LHM came in 1967!

1 minute 35 seconds. "For the first time, on a mas produced car, the engine was positioned at the front." What kind of nonsense is that?

Always remember: There is only one DS and that is the original from 1955 to 1975. All others called "DS" is just a disgrace and pure crap!

Close to being as naughty as that Renault 2CV 😂, It’s difficult to believe we’re talking about a state vehicle used by the head of state who had the choice of anything available yet chose this peculiar and nondescript voiture, who knows why he chose it, patriotism, typical bizzare behaviour that followed his years running France with unprecedented bitterness or peut etre he simply liked the anonymity of such a run of the mill automobile. I worked in the Usine Renault Douai installing a huge press in the 1990s and got a good feel for the pride and patriotism the French feel for their country and products, bear in mind this was the time Williams were beating everyone in the F1 Circuit with their Renault engines too. De Gaulle was a most selfish and ungracious chap who never understood the word THANKS. 🇬🇧🙏🇺🇸
