Groot Ex-Allied Waste Autocar WXLL McNeilus Atlantic Curotto Can Garbage Truck

*Watch in 2160p60*
Well, I finally got a solid video of one of these WXLL’s, but not in the way I had hoped. Even just a year ago, these would still run trash and recycle routes pretty regularly but as the Elgin shop has begun phasing out the older trucks, my chances of finding one on a non-yard waste route have been slim to none at best these days. So when I saw this truck doing a dense yard waste route, I took my chance and I’m glad I did. I always find it entertaining to watch drivers use the arm with manual bins, and these trucks have only sounded better and better as time goes on. Interestingly enough, these trucks don’t have work brakes and so whenever the driver exits the cab, he has to set the parking brake which can be pretty annoying. For those of you who may not know, these trucks were bought brand new by Allied Waste at their Bridgeton, MO yard (and this exact unit was even on display at WasteExpo 2008 in Chicago). Later they were sent up to Republic’s Elgin site, but were never rebranded. Through an asset swap they were grandfathered into Groot’s operations, and to this day about 6 remain and still run pretty regularly. I hope you all enjoy the video of a truck that has quite the history!

For those of you unfamiliar with my channel, I document refuse trucks and equipment in my area and wherever I happen to travel.
