Dr Peter Langford examines the benefits and challenges of values-based leadership, and the process for delivering values-based leadership in your organisation. This presentation draws upon Voice Project's recent research paper on leadership which won an “Outstanding Paper“ award from Emerald Publishing, along with case studies from our clients.

Values-based leadership is about inspiring and empowering others by communicating and role modelling shared organisational values. From our work we observe the positive impacts a values-based leader brings to an organisation. Effective values-based leadership not only increases employee alignment to the company's mission and values, but leads to a more coherent workforce, as both leaders and employees are driven by the same values of the organisation.

Values-based leadership is about inspiring and empowering others by articulating and modelling shared organisational values.

Ideally, an organisation's values should drive, recruitment and selection, training, processes and decision making in organisations. Leaders should also be reinforcing these values via their direct behaviours, effectively creating a positive feedback loop.
