Episode Notes:

1. Most footage captured on real Dreamcast hardware(Redream used for Bomberman Online and the Tetris games).

2. Many of these games appeared on other platforms like the PC, Playstation, and N64. If you liked the look of something but don't own a DC, look at the other platforms of the era.

3. This is one area that I really wish Sega had focused on their own IP's. A Dreamcast Outrun, a Dreamcast Shinobi, and a Dreamcast Streets of Rage could have had so much potential.

It sucks the Dreamcast wasn’t more popular. It really had something for everyone but never got the exposure it should have. It’s one of my favorite consoles and one I go back to most often (after the Genesis that is lol)

The lighting effects in Alone in the Dark were absolutely amazing and provided a wonderfully creepy atmosphere. They still hold up today, very impressive.

Gauntlet Legends on the DC was THE definitive version. Played it through many times with friends. And it was basically a "set aside a night" kind of experience as we needed to do it in 1 run.

What do we need to do to get Sega to realize we all want a Dreamcast Mini!?

I actually loved playing those types of games on my Playstation & Dreamcast in addition to playing the original arcade compliations like Namcom Muesum. Gauntlet Legends was my absolute favorite when it was out in the arcades and I actually bought a Dreamcast to play it on.

These games not only improve the graphics of course but expand upon the gameplay that was already great to begin with. I feel sorry for any purists who instantly hate on these remakes for not being pixelated enough...

I have a soft spot for these nostalgia retread games. Your round-ups are consistently amazing. Great job!

Watching that Centipede gameplay makes my head spin. Might be different if I were the one playing it. I've heard the N64 version of Gauntlet Legends is the best. Huge fan of the Q*Bert arcade. I haven't played the DC version but I think the camera should gently slide back and forth a bit so you could more easily see the height and depth of the blocks.

Some good stuff. I always though that Alone in the Dark title didn't make sense, because it was never dark, but with that version, it finally makes sense.
Haha now I see why you don't like 3d isometric games, it's true that some of them require you to "remap" the directions in your head, like up could mean up-right, and right could mean bottom-right, and it's game specific.

that was a pretty neat video idea! I always enjoy learning about some janky/obscure games I'll will never have the willpower to play myself

Often watch your videos twice, once in preview with subtitles reading them to myself in your voice, then again with the sound on and subs to see if I guessed right how you’d saying it. Another great video, loved Dreamcast 🎮 ❤️

Centipede and Frogger 2 were also released on PS1 and PC, and those versions actually did get a release in PAL regions.

Its really crazy to think that these remakes of older games are now older than the originals where when they came out at this time i did not even consider anything made after 1985 as retro yet because they where still putting out 8 bit games on handhelds like the game boy colour but now i see even dreamcast and ps1 games as retro.

Alone in the dark and track and field show how beautiful old school games could be made on the dreamcast hardware as well I would like to see a list of the most beautiful dreamcast games, and best rpgs on the system I still remember playing record of lodoss war at my babysitters after Watching the anime at their house

Gauntlet Legends (and Dark Legacy) is one of my favorite arcade games of all-time. I would absolutely kill for an HD remake with online co-op.

My Dad being a gamer of the 80's (and perhaps earlier) meant that I got to play a lot of the classics, and a lot of these "re-imaginings" on the Dreamcast. I think I've played every one of these!

Thanks for the nostalgia trip yet again!

Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare is easily the best of the series IMO, it reminded me quite a bit of Resident Evil 2, with the two characters having their own different stories but having to communicate with each other throughout it.
