I still think Emily’s outfits are like grown up and expensive Disney channel outfits from the 2000s/2010s.

Camille had so much potential as a character, but then they made her turn nasty this season to make Emily seem better by comparison. I can understand her wanting revenge on Emily for cheating with Gabriel, but it takes TWO people to commit adultery, not one. And ultimately, she looked weak for taking Gabriel back after all that!

Mina, thank you for mentioning Petra. It's so triggering seeing everyone else ignoring the issue. I think many westerners do not understand the discrimination that eastern Europeans face: we are seen as inferior, it's much deeper than just "a stereotype".
We are denied jobs, we get told that we are whores, that we're thieves constantly. These portrayals in media, as subtle as they may seem, pay a HUGE role in how people will then treat us in real life.
I think it's hard for Americans to understand it, because we're white-- but the truth is that racism and xenophobia are much different in Europe. Being pale doesn't save you from being called subhuman, and people will make sure to tell you that your culture is wrong, or that you shouldn't speak your language in public.
We're tired of being shown this way in media, because it's not only American TV doing this.

I’d love a euphoria analysis since it’s not really a “fashion” show but it sparked many trends and the show is coming for another season now in January I loved this video ✨

They've moved from insulting the French, to the Ukrainians, by stereotyping the ONLY Ukrainian character as a petty thief.

I feel like they really could’ve done something with the whole “dressing like Aubrey Hepburn in a French movie” thing. Like, they could’ve made it into a metaphor for how Emily is interested in French culture, but only knows it thru an American lens? Idk I feel like there’s something there they can expand on...

I refuse to watch season 2 so thank you for this

The real test of the show is (assuming she doesn’t already) having Lily Collins learn the accent and pronunciation well enough to demonstrate big progress and intermediate level fluency in the next season.

Mindy's costuming annoyed me so much this season. She's so broke she can't help Emily with rent but she's walking around in high fashion suits and dresses?

As a European, I’d just like to say that their portrayal of the only eastern European character, Ukrainian Petra, is as bad as if they made a show in America, had one black character and made her the bad guy. In Europe, sadly, there’s a lot of stigma towards ex-soviet countries.

Imagine if France made ‘Émilie aux etats unis’. In the first season they portray all the Americans as stupid, fat, uneducated and impolite. In the second season they introduce the only black character, and she steals from a store.

That’s Emily in Paris through European eyes.

Why is Gabriel supposed to be a love interest? The man is a cheater. I don't care if it's the hottest man God created, if a man cheats so casually as he has he becomes greasy garbage in my eyes.

so the season 2 finale fashion show was basically the "just glue stuff on a body suit and hope you are not in the bottom 2 of rupauls drag race"

Omggg I cringed so hard when Alfie ripped her blouse, NO!
Also the Ukrainian character being portrayed like that, yeah not a good look

The Old Hollywood angle--or any vintage/historical fashion style would
A) achieve the fish-out-of-water/sore-thumb aesthetic
B) would feed into her studious/serious persona and
C) mesh better with her Midwest background, because vintage fashion is more accessible than high fashion here (thrifting is a lot less competitive here than New York)

Also, you can use the 'its thrifted!' excuse for the budget

I know so much about this show without having ever watched a second of it.

Totally agree. Gabriel is the real villain. Camille was betrayed and lost. And she was manipulated by her mom to do a revenge. Also Gabriel really has a personality of a cardboard. He’s so boring. I don’t understand why the writers make the girls fight over him. They should move on from this useless love triangle.

I thought Emily’s bad/bizarre fashion is supposed to be a commentary that Emily actually know nothing about fashion, but she’s wearing what she thinks is chic. I have no idea how they can explain her being able to afford designer clothes.

I think it would make sense for Emily if she had a working closet and a free time closet. In season 1 we're told that she used to work in PR for pharmacy. She would be required to dress businesslike to not scare away the clients. Also it would explain why she would dress so bold and over the top in her free time because then she could experience with fashion and enjoy some fun clothes.

She’d stick out in Chicago with her fashion choices. Especially season one Emily.
