This video shows how to calculate the drainage density of a catchment using the polygon and line geometries in the field calculator of QGIS. In addition you'll learn how to calculate a drainage density map with focal density, using the line density processing tool.

Dear Kwast, thanks for the resources you have provided. It is very helpful indeed. My question is how can I extrapolate my line density results to the entire catchment areas as the results doen't cover areas which are not covered by stream lines. Even in your case little areas in the southeastern and northwestern part is not covered. Is it not possible to extrapolate? I tried to clip with the order of "mask extent", but yet not working.
