I grew up in rural Alaska and had plenty of encounters growing up/hunting/hiking and as a police officer with moose. They are an awesome mix of big cuteness, meanness, strength and speed. They can stand that tall like the vid says, the bulls are crazy in the rut and tge cows are mean all the time. They can run around 35mph in 4’ of snow/water/ and through the thick woods. The only thing they do NOT do-luckily- is turn sharp. When being chased by one- and they will chase you especially with young just for accidentally getting to close according to mama moose or just because they ARE plain mean, be sure to turn sharp around trees and zig/zag getting trees between you and it because it will quickly catch you and stomp you to death. They look big and sweet- but are no such thing on the whole. We had a mom and baby who lived in our front/back yard for most of a year. Sometimes if tge garage door was up the little one would walk in. They fear nothing and hiss at me with his ears pinned back. After talking gently to him he would wander out. Being late for work because a moose was between you and your car was generally excused. They ARE cool animals though. They also swim really well.

I think they are AWESOME!💕

I actually got to touch two moose yearlings (about the size of a young horse) while visiting Alaska.
I thought their muzzle would be velvety like a horse's but it was like VERY coarse sandpaper!
The first stuck his nose in my van window, and I gave him an apple core, which he liked.
The second, which was probably the first one, walked up to me when I was outside my van.
I wished I had an apple for him... 💕

Walked into the mountains of Montana with my service dog, thought I saw a dead baby moose on the ground, my dog and I walked over to it and it got up and walked away. I froze knowing mama was somewhere close, glad I’m around to tell the story.

My son came running in one day and proudly proclaimed that we had a ”deer horse” trying to eat our apples. It was a moose.

I love all God's creatures but he had a sense of humor when he made goofy looking moose.

A moose will stomp you out fast...they look docile, but they fear nothing in the woods.

Watching Canadian Sesame Street with my younger sister back in the day, they had a short talking about a moose with the letter M and it showed how freaking huge it was in comparison to the child.

I nearly hit one years ago in Norway, where they're called Elk. My van would've come off worst, I think. I couldn't believe how big it was. I was driving a VW Transporter, so pretty high off the road, and I was still looking UP at the Elk! 🇳🇴

I’ve been chased by a few in Newfoundland. Let me tell me it’s a rush. Plus near hit and missed on the highway in Newfoundland. 100 km yes but you better drive only 80 km if you want to stop in time. October is the worse and winter months. They like the road salt
