From foals to tiny tots, they all have one thing in common: when their curiosity is piqued there's no stopping them. This little guy is only 2days old and he's got a mind of his own already. Here he is trying to do something that his mom really objects to. It’s a universal mother-child interaction no matter what the species! Perigeuex is one of the new foals of 2022. (May, 2022)

Momma: Okay since my baby won't listen- I'm now going to tell you to move.

Mare: Son, you're in trouble! When I say no, it's a complete sentence.
Foal: But mum there's a nice lady over there!
Mare: Not for long!

There is nothing quite like a mother's love for and need to protect her young.

She's teaching the most important rule for being out in public: don't approach strangers.

Although it's not said, if you are a trainer and are deciding on a foal to take on as a personally owned project horse/forever home self trained steed, you can get much better results from a foal raised by a mother or preferably with a larger group of horses with their mother. The reasoning is natural horsemanship- that is, applying gentle and consistent pressure until a result is achieved then releasing immediately, is WAY easier if the foal was already taught this their whole life. I've turned pasture raised wild 6 month olds into the calmest colts in the barn who stand for the farrier with ease this way! But those who called me to go 'correct' their yearling's behavior.. Could "only" get them to behave with treats! They bottle fed them, laid down with them, treated them like a playful dog and fed them from hand- now they have a horse that has NO personal space boundaries and rips your pockets to look for treats, and rears up trying to put its hooves on you and force you down on its own terms.

"You can't meet them until I say so"

Mothers with their cubs/foals/babies caring for them is just beautiful. Something primal and tender about it.

Good little clip of showing what a mother SHOULD be doing with her foal. Unlike all the damaged mares that gave up on raising their foals properly because humans keep messing with her upbringing of the baby. :P

I'm glad you respected this and didn't attempt to destroy the mothers lessons, it's super important at this stage in life that humans just let mom do stuff, don't touch the baby don't attempt to teach it anything you will ruin that horse

its really neat to see such interactions. They might not talk like us, but they still communicate just fine amongst each other.

This. This is exactly why I love and respect horses lol Unlike most people, horses and other animals with offspring don't hesitate in making their point clear, usually much faster than us lol

I love this mare! She has such a pretty face and beautiful eyes, but she is heavy boned and powerful in her body. What kind of horse is she?

This kind of teaching and discipline is why every young animal really needs a capable parent. They really need to learn how to give space to their people, instead of running into and stepping on them like so many human raised horses, cows, etc do.
