There's another dwarf smith in the capital city of Battahl, which is a more convenient location. You have to complete the regalia sword questline to unlock him.

I think it might be worth mentioning the dragon-forged upgrades too. It only halves the weight of the items, but that's amazing for a class like Thief since it means better stamina management and higher attack speed.

Awesome advice! I was just upgrading at the closest place to me with no attention on the style. But now I know!

Another good thing to note is that if you need really rare materials for upgrades but don't want to keep farming that enemy over and over again, you can just fight it until you get the material you need and then go to the forgory shop in the checkpoint town and keep copying it.

It takes a few in-game days to copy something but you can just go do other stuff while that's going on and kinda kill two birds with one stone

FYI, with the forger passive. You can open the map & click on the materials icons. It will tell you the type of material at the location. Hope that helps 😉

As a warrior, im definitely going all dwarven, i already did that dwarfs quest, didn't know hes a smith though. More knockdowns = more free execute damage to their head

Just finished the first area and did not know the different styles. Glad vermundian is just generally good. Dwarven seems good for warriors to increase the knockdown even further

I went FULL dwarven upgrade on my chest piece as a fighter and just ramboed my way throughout the game.

The thing that vermundian and elvish is good for as well, is lowering weight. Each smith level lowers the item's weight which is good, since Battahl increases the weight

The red one, The dragon blood crystals (forgot the name) has some also. That guy in the cave has the one hit kill arrow also.

I know i commented twice already but thief and archer are 2 vocations you want as little weight as possible so the best in slot armor is arguably early vermund with either vermund or elven style. Yeah dragonforging lowers weight alot but its difficult to achieve very light weight rating with other smithing styles unless you grind golden beetles in ng+ runs like a lunatic or cheat.

You can also do a 5th one that halves the weight of the item from a npc u unlock in the main story
