I just wanted to say that my dear boy, Jackaby, passed away. He wasn’t all that affectionate but I know he loved me because he followed me everywhere and would sit on a stool and watch me cook in the kitchen, sit on his perch while I was on my computer, or generally chasing me and smacking my ankles without using his claws. He was a big ol fluffy and majestic boy. This was just an appreciation comment because this video reminded me of him. ❤️ thank you, Jackson.

This is so my cat. She's not a lap cat, but she's a "I want to be near my humans most of the time" cat. She follows me from room to room. She keeps her eyes on me. We can spend an hour slow blinking at each other sometimes. She's super affectionate, just in a very cat way of being affectionate.

I think I understand where Su comes from. We see all these cat videos on youtube with cats hugging, licking, purring, etc. and because of that we have certain expectations. If our cat doesn't correspond to that expectations, we might begin to wonder if he loves us. My cat Neko is just like Su's, and I know he shows me his love in his own ways. We just need to set ourselves free of our expectations and then we will realize our cat loves us just as much as we love them. <3

My cat was a feral who decided to move in with us one bad winter. He's not very interactive and he'll walk off if we try to stroke him but he will curl up right next to us and purr so I think he likes us. I feel privileged to have been chosen.

I think I have the opposite problem with my orange boy, Lex, he is extremely cuddly and affectionate to the point where it's kind of annoying, like: "can I sit in the toilet and take a dump without a cat sitting in my lap, please?" 😂

My neighbor’s cat would always let me pet her ONLY twice, and then promptly trot off to plop down 10 feet away. I thought that meant she was meh about me.

Then one day, early in the pandemic, I took a video call in my car. My neighbor’s cat saw me, but I had to ignore her. She climbed over my front and back windshields and tried SO desperately to get my attention. That’s when I realized those two pets meant a lot to her. 💕

There's also the fact that Shisu goes to *Su's* room; he doesn't go to the kitchen, or the dining room, or the bathroom. He goes to Su's room, which, aside from exposing their belly, sitting in your room, on your bed, is pretty much the biggest "I love you" a cat can give; by sitting on your bed, a cat is melding their scent with yours, and basically saying "I love you, I feel safe with you, and I trust you."

Cats are not Dogs...they aren't going to invade your personal space 24/7, they are like teenagers that walk through the kitchen "love you Mom" and wanders off to do their own thing. Occasionally you get a hug... a longer "love you Mom" but like a teenager if you chase them for affection they draw farther away. Accept their simple, subtle I love you Mom for the kind, respectful, loving connection it is.
