solidworks has a motion analysis function which allows to model the effects of actuation on parts

Clever. The parallel white bars keep the motion of the platform perfectly straight and the green bar actuates the white bars. It's two parallel bar systems linked by the green bars, which means you could add a third stage too. What's the advantage over an old school scissor lift?
