What Does Neuvillette’s NERF Mean For Genshin Impact?

Neuvillette recently got his Spin 2 Win AOE technique nerfed in Genshin Impact Version 4.8, yet this was rolled back immediately within 24 hours after the CN community demanded that things returned back to the way they were. We got compensated with 1,600 Primogems thanks to this, & yet while all's well that end's well, this leads me to be curious about the future of Genshin Impact's meta, & what underlying message this very belated act may hold...

Dude, it took them half a year since release to make Mona not stunlockable to death, a year to make Monas sprint recovery animations to become on par with other units (to sell Ayaka, which shares same animations), and 2 years to finally fix Monas/Ayakas alternative sprint being stuck on every little pebble (to sell Ayaka on the rerun). Yet, they never cared to fix "Q not being used with alt+num if pressed during animation" bug that exists since Inazuma. The only time this company does something - is when they want to sell something (hi Mualani!). This company never cared about making games, they only care about money. So now, after this nerf was reversed, we can expect a pretty high powercreep wave (otherwise, why Neuvilitte havers would feel any need in getting characters of equal/lower power?).

Hoyo having a hard time convincing players to pull for a new 5* hydro DPS when neuvillette is around. I mean you can't blame him, he does everything: hydro application, damage, AoE, one of the best if not the best synergy with furina, ez access to different team comps, best C1, self buff, self heal, spin2win, swims fast. They even tried to nerf the dragon only losing the same day and ended up apologizing to everyone. Ez 1700 primos to all players.

They nerfed Barbara pretty fast when 3.0 came out, she could be stronger than Nilou if that didnt happen. 😅

Idk, Im kinda worried about the implied direction. Farming artifacts is already a complete chore. Making DPS checks even higher would be really disappointing. I'd rather they use mechanics to increase difficulty rather than just producing ever-tankier enemies. 🧀

I 100% agree that it should be fixed. “Feature” my ass. It’s not possible on console or mobile. It doesn’t even look like normal gameplay. They should’ve fixed it but during the same day/ week of launch or something

10 months?! For a tech discovered in the first week? Remember how quick Barbara’s infinite bloom tech, that would have made Nilou obsolete on Day 1, was killed?

I play on controller so i don't get access to spin bot neuvillete, but i was still upset about the change. I love seeing a spinning guy firing tons of water, i find it even more funny its neuvilette, i even imagine the characters in game being like "yeah this is normal for the hydro dragon to do".

I don't know i guess i just like the fact it exists.

before i knew he got nerfed, I was using neuvillette in abyss, and I didn't even notice a difference. it was a pointless change in my opinion, basically hoyo saying "you can't have fun anymore!" i mean everyone got a free 1700 primos for literally nothing so can't complain that much.

Fire Cai Haoyu, greedy greedy dude that nerf the best Hydro DPS so that his surfer girl can be more competitive and sell more. If they succeed, their sales gets higher, if they fail just give 10 pulls as compensation, nothing off their back.

🧀 I actually think them considering ways to change Neuv’s power level is good because it indicates that perhaps Mualani isn’t as crazy a powercreep as Neuv was, or that their power level is more comparable in general

It's actually very easy to nerf Neuvilette, just make enemies that doesnt take damage if the character attacking them is levitating.

It would've been fine if they patched it out in beta or right after 4.1 release, but it's been in the game for 7 patches and is a pretty well known tech. No shot hoyo did not know about this to be this late to the party, and concidering there's a 5 star hydro dps in 5.0 it just feels extremely scummy

amusing side note, from my perspective, i sometimes fall far behind on some quests (just how it is) and i only recently, like the day before or this happened, had finished the last fontaine quest lol. my surprise reward 1700 primogems from the guy

This sets a terrible precedent, making Hoyo unable to fix old bugs, and if the bug isn't fixed right away, it'll probably stay in forever.
I honestly don't know if that is worth 1600 primos.
Also, it honestly makes the game look bad, they are literally patching a bug back in, it makes the game look unpolished.
hopefully this will be a lesson and they won't sleep on bugs/glitches for so long from now on.
