Your loving care and ingenuity never ceases to amaze me, you are so not stupid. you built them a lovely new home from an old coffee table made it cosy and you fed them all night and all day, you are an ace mouse mom. Lucky mice.

This exact same thing happened to me! I live trapped a "large" mouse last fall but the weather forecast was horrible so I thought I'd be nice and wait a couple days before releasing him/her. Suddenly there were 5 babies in the enclosure. I kept and fed them all for WEEKS until they were ready to be released. The night before I was going to let them go, they all escaped into my house. On the plus side, I'm pretty sure they never wanted to see me again because there was zero evidence of them after. I guess my 5 star mouse hotel and gourmet meals wasn't to their liking. The things we do.

Having done this before, I will warn you, as they are wild mice there will come a point where its time to let them go. You'll know cause they'll suddenly start getting anxious and acting wild and trying to escape from you when they were fine being held before. This is just because they are not domesticated, and thus their little brains are hardwired to being in the wild. Also once they get to eating real food, try finding any local nuts and seeds and grasses around you to feed them, that will help show them what to eat when they are set free :D Good luck!

i had found a one week old baby kitten and i was the "cat mom" i did everything his mom would've done, was up every 2 hours every night for two/almost three months... i know how hard it is but the feeling of seeing them grow and knowing all your hard work was worth it is unexplainable.. This reminded me of those time and I am so proud of you for sticking up for this cuties! Keep us updated on them pls!!

Btw my cat is turning six months old this month and he is, quiet literally, my baby. He is healthy and so handsome ♡

I foster cats and recently had a mama and her babies. She wasn't stimulating them to pee/poop, so I was up every three hours day and night helping her care for them. I empathize with your current situation - it's rewarding and exhausting and scary all at the same time.

This reminds me so much of last spring when we found baby squirrels in our attic and no mom came back for them. We raised two babies inside for 2-3 months and released them. A year later and we still see them in our trees. They also stop by for peanut snacks 😊
I can attest to those first few weeks of feedings being exhausting! But so worth it.

Mice can be weaned from the mother around 21 days old, that's probably when you can switch them to harder foods, or at least moist solid foods if they seem a bit too small. Also to sex them, check the distance between the genitals and the anus (anogenital distance). If the distance is short, it's female. If the distance is longer and there's more fur in between, it's male. You can also check this at around 21 days. There are a lot of photos online too! Once they hit around 60 days, they will start to breed, so you might need to separate them or get the males neutered.

Thank you for sharing your mice babies, I used to work with mice a lot and I miss them 🥺❤️

I bet she returned but couldn’t get up the glass to get back to feed her babies. You are very good to take care of the babies and you did your best

I feel you, took in a pregnant mama cat... I've never worked so hard and I had 3 babies myself... between changing out litter box daily for a litter of 8, and feeding the runt, to transitioning to cat food... thinking about it exhausts me 😆

Great job, Hannah!
Paper bedding, or aspen are great - not pine shavings as oils are toxic.
Avoid cotton wool as the fibres can be ingested and get wrapped around limbs.
Kiddie craft glue and aquarium sealant are safe.
Bird seeds/sunflower seeds etc to eat, occasional fruits, occasional protein liked chicken, boiled egg or meal worms.
Lots of recycled packaging and junk to play and hide in, prey animals need to feel safe.
Will start to mate from 4 - 6 weeks.
Good luck, enjoy your babies! 🥰

this brings back good memories. when i was a kid, my father accidentally disturbed a mouse nest that had been put together in his tool box, leaving three infant mice. me and my sister adopted them and took care of them, feeding them with tiny siringes until they were adults. I loved those baby mice, and I miss them!

Dude, that edit with you saying, "I'm gonna do it, " then affirmatively reassuring yourself in the next frame with, "I'm doing it, " and a smile. Adorable! Fantastic.

Quick Tip:
~Next time you cut plexiglass, leave the cellophane on, it helps in preventing (as much) shrapnel and decreases the chipping factor. Also taping the cutting line works too.

Hannah, you’re an incredible girl. Anyone who puts so much care into looking after the most tiny & vulnerable of creatures is a stellar human being. Not only are you are a gorgeous & empathetic girl, you’re highly skilled & practical. I’m sure Matt realises he got an absolute catch in such an awesome girl.
