My parents are Christian, so my name came from a vision God sent to my father. After hearing that story from my parents, I was a little skeptical, until i searched up what my name meant. My name has two meanings, although the first isn’t significant. It’s the second one. My name also means “the Lord.” I was, and still am mind blown.

For context: My aunt was in an orphanage and my grandma wanted a child, and she felt bad for the person running the orphanage so she gave them a penny in exchange for a child-

Im actually proud of how I got my name. My name is Sumayah but originally I was going to be called Howa (first woman in Islam) but then my grandfather saw me and gave me my name. He died when I was 3 months old so I never knew him and I don't have anything to remember him by like my sister and cousins (he would give the girls solid gold necklaces and the boys would get whatever was cool at the time) so I'm glad I was named by him

I was named after a singer back then, my mom had a friend who was almost like a brother to her, and her other friend’s younger sister has that name. It’s just a coincidence that my dad picked out the name, mom agreed instantly 🙃
