I get mine on Tuesday. Cant wait. Been fighting for too many years with my current setup. Not to mention that it weighs probably 10x as much.

I agree wholeheartedly, Luke - the weather has been pretty grim and it does tend to rub off on enthusiasm! Great video and an outstanding image of the Bubble nebula. Let's get some clear skies and thank you for sharing.

Here in western Canada, our summer nights are clear, hot but short. Our winter nights are long, cold but cloudy…for months. Any video is appreciated, good one.

Got mine a few weeks ago. Really really happy with it. It easily outperforms my SW EQ6R and my iOptron. The Carbon Tripod has a bit of a weakness when heavy scopes are on the mount - the rubber feets do squish a bit when you slew around and the weight distribution changes, so polaralignment changes a bit I think. But one could get rid of the rubberfeet and use the included metal spikes. And even then, worst guiding rms I have seen with my 12kg setup and no counterweight was 0.75 🎉

Great video, and we all go through these Astro slumps, take a little break ready for the coming autumn and winter…👍🏻

The AM5N is on my 'wish list' for later this year. I saw a post saying that the on-saddle 12 volt power jack is rated for 3 amps. If true this is a major limitation of the mount IMHO. Looking forward to your future AM5N review.

The AM5N mount is a huge game changer. I can only imagine if in the future the new release will have even lower Periodic Error.

I just acquired the AM3 for use for my ED80 scope. Well, as you might surmise, I have had countless nights of clouds. I did have one night of thin clouds mixed with other clouds and was able to test it somewhat. During the mostly clear intervals, I was getting less than 0.5 arcseconds of guiding. So, yes, I am very impressed. Also, with the clouds, I have had no opportunities to work on the HubbleBubbleChallenge. I am waiting for clear skies, and hopefully, that will arrive in 3 nights from now.

I’m looking hard at this mount. I weighed my OTA (Edge HD8, AIR, Reducer, OAG, EAF and a 3 pound counterweight under the aperture just to get balance) in its present setup and in came in just at 21 pounds, close to 10kg. With the counterweights it’s hitting 50 pounds which exceeds, by a lot, my AVX capability. I cannot guide with any precision and it’s time for an upgrade. Great review. I’m gathering all the information I can before dropping the money.

It’s really interesting to watch the time lapse it seems to show the camera wobbling a bit. Must have been due to the guider sending aggressive pulses to the mount!

Hi thanks for the vid, I have just received my am5, and noticed that you do not have the st4 port connected to the am5 . Is it not needed for guiding?

Not that I’m in the market for one but I’m hoping Zoltan (365 Astronomy) will bring one along to to the astronomy festival at Herstmonceux next weekend, 30th Aug - 1st Sep. I will be working there but hope to get down to the camping field to see what people are doing, thought I might end up in the beer tent as usual. As for the astro slump I’ve only taken 2 images this year, the last being early this month of WR 134. Love your live video’s Luke👍

My am5n periodic error is significantly worse than my original am5. Really seems to be luck of the draw

New tat? Looks like Mjolnir?? Nicely done.
Great vid. Out of reach for the likes of me, though. Appreciate the engineering choices they've made.
