Shiny Lock Removal Tutorial (3DS)

Hi guys!! This tutorial is now very much outdated - if you want a much easier way of removing shiny locks in 3DS Pokemon games, I have created pre-packed .zip files containing the necessary files to remove shiny locks, which can be extracted onto your 3DS' SD card and saves you the trouble of removing the shiny locks yourselves! Each game also has an easy tell that the mod is working as well - when you pick a starter at the beginning of the game, you'll see that they are holding a berry as a held item, which they normally wouldn't!

Turns out I made an error for Gen 6 games - you don't need "encdata" as shown in the "garcs" bit at 6:36 at all for Gen 6 games, as it has nothing to do with shiny locks or static encounters, just wild encounter table data. The "a > 0 > 1 > 2" bit highlighted in the video isn't actually needed at all when recombining the SD card for Gen 6 games - the only things you'll actually need are "code.bin" in the root of the title ID, and DllField.cro in the RomFS directory 😂😂

Gen 7 however it's still very important that you maintain the "a > 1 > 5 > 9" file structure and put your modified file in the right place.

I seem to be doing something wrong, I've edited code.bin and put dllfield.cro in the correct directory, double checking the timestamp to see if it's the edited one I need and nothing seems to be working. Game patching is on and update data is removed. Any help would be appreciated.

Gen 6 games crash if you don't delete the update data. So you have to get rid of it. But be warned that if you delete the update you can no longer go online until you redownload it.

It seems the guide worked great a year ago, now it's outdated. Due to the updates Luma has had, it seems it's no longer compatible with Luma Arm 11, with is one of the key components needed to run mods. I'm not sure what can be done to fix it, but this is a heads up for anyone trying it in late 2023.

So when you’re done with your hunts do you simply delete the new data in 1/5/9 files to restore the game to normal?

I followed everything in the video but my game does not boot up when I insert it. Just a lit up screen. I checked multiple times and I don’t have any updates installed this is for ultra sun. Any suggestions?

I really need help i can't seem to manage to change my shiny odds i keep teying but can't figure it out, and now I'm unsure if i removed my shiny lockes properly as well please i want to remove my shiny locks and raise my odds and can't solve my issue

When I go into the exefs folder it only has the code and icon files, but no banner file and my romfs a folder only has a 0 and 2 folder. What am I doing wrong?

I want to reset Ultramoon game, but for starters and legendaries, if I go in shiny rate and put the option “EVERTHING SHINY” every pokemon can be shiny?

What if your using CIA files instead of game cartridges? How do I copy the RomFs from a CIA file?
