Another good reason for using a humidity sensor that is separate from the device is that the device is too close to its output and will always overestimate the humidity. In my office, the humidifier about 15 feet from where I sit, and I naturally want it too feel comfortable where I sit vs where it sits.

I love the idea of a remote to capture outside temperature and humidity levels outside. Does this use z-wave to communicate? I’m hoping it’s not Bluetooth!

I use dumb mechanical switch wick humidifiers with a smart plug and control on and off with an Amazon Indoor Air Monitor (got cheap when first out). Before that, I did same with my ecobee thermostat and IFTTT, until IFTTT reduced free triggers. The air monitor does other air tests too and came in handy during Canadian forest fires to trigger an air filter.

I have this humidifier, as I was one who ordered it from kickstarter campaign - the problem I have with it, auto adjust function only, I repeat only works with switch bot humidity meter, no other smart humidity meters not the HomePod
