But on the back end, where are all these AI assistants getting there information? We know chat GPT uses historical data and is by no means up to date. I'd imagine they will either be getting data from Bing or Google. Couldn't Google monetize these information calls based on the API that's accessing it?

GOOG has everything to lose. New comers to this field have nothing to lose.

Google is still the go-to source when you want reliable information, for now. Also, google monetizes through ads, especially ads that leads to the sale of products and services. AI can recommend services in any particular app, but you're still going to have to google for it in the end.

You can search for places to visit in Malaysia and build an itinerary in Snapchat, but you're still going to have to Google for the exact food place's address, reviews and the hotel website to book a place to stay. People often want alternatives, choices and second opinions when making more meaningful decisions (like choosing to buy something). Also, Google owns YouTube which it can use to stay relevant. As long as Google can integrate AI into its products and keep Google Search as one of its use cases, people will continue to use Google products to retrieve and fact check information.

One positive thing from this is that anti-trust will have a much harder time arguing that Google is a monopoly given the threat of ChatGPT

My 4 ye old stepdaughter said “purple shirt”. (She loves purple). Looking snazzy new background new mic. No more pink Floyd posture (which I’m sad about). You’re gonna see this man on CNBC. “I disagree Jim”. Finally in his 40’s. His own finance show. WATCH. Believe it

Not true when saying "I don't need to go to google anymore" with regards to your trip.
Because AI isn't connected to the internet it can't tell you the latest prices, weather or venues that have opened or closed.
Imagine going to a landmark only to realise it's closed due to repairs or whatever. You still need google to double check the information the AI gave you is accurate.
I travel a lot and for me google remains the most trustworthy tool and can't see AI replacing it unless it's connected to the internet.

from what I understood, Google is not just a search engine - but they have massive foothold in the area of Data and Analysis, Networking and amount of servers around the world is not an easy task to emulate so easily by a simple AI algotithm.

Are the other platforms you mentioned use Google for their underlying searches?😂

Google AI does not get pissed off as Bing AI. Bing looks like it gets frustrated quite easy when it thinks the question has been repeated. In the other hands, Google is more patient.

Thanks for the video as always! I think it will all boil down to which company has the most reliable generative AI that can provide information most of us would feel confident about. In such a case, Google has a pretty good advantage, coupled with its superiority in the field of AI. I've used ChatGPT, but have found myself using Bard AI with its Google Search option at the bottom of each response to confirm ChatGPT's answers, until finally deciding to just use Bard 99% of the time. Alphabet will have an annual event on May 23 - Google Marketing Live, which will showcase its latest ads products, and innovations. It would be interesting to see what they have in store to counter the naysayers.
