Lidl, yes that Lidl have their own range of smart home products. Released in Ireland last Thursday just following the UK these Zigbee plugs, bulbs and all the rest are a cheap and interesting addition to the market. while not bringing anything new they are positioned to the masses with their price point and availability in the high street.

I take a look at the hub they offer as well as some if the smart plugs and power strips and how their app bares a strong resemblence to the Tuya Smart Life app.

Thanks very much for this detailed info 👍Great video. I can confirm that the lidl bulbs do indeed work well with the Philip Hue hub, just a note that I have been able also to directly control the bulbs via the Echo plus built in zigbee however the Alexa App reports the RGB bulbs as just white so currently I can not find a way to set colour changing via Alexa, if anyone manages this please let me know 👍😁

Here in the UK at then end of last week (Feb 2021) Lidl had their smart sockets for £7.99. They also had a four way smart mains extender with four built-in USB sockets built in for £19.99. They also had some nice caramel peanut brittle! Bought some of all ietms!

Hi Andy! I bought some Livarno Lux smart lights at Lidl which I installed easily on Echo 4th generation. I can switch on-off, control temperature, but I can't control the colours. Do you have any tips? Nice video mate 😀

They work very nicely - and natively - with Home Assistant too, as mentioned they are generic zigbee 3.0 devices so no surprises really.

I had a bad time trying to set these things up with an IKEA gateway.
The plugs were the easiest to set up, plugged them in near the gateway, they start pairing and connect by themselves in about 10 seconds.
The bulb was a different story. It's brighter than the IKEA tradfri bulbs and cheaper too, but so much more of a hassle. Controlling the bulb with google assistant kneecaps the max brightness to s shocking extent, pairing them to the gateway is more complex too, needing a lidl remote that 80% of the time won't pair with them.
The extension lead was the most disappointing though. All the lidl plugs show as a question mark in the IKEA app and as a single plug in Hue Essentials, but they all work more or less. The extension lead only works on a single socket, no way I could find to get all 3 in as individual sockets. Looking like I need to buy the lidl bridge as well, meaning it will have cost 50 for a single extension lead

Hello Hello Andy, I started on the Google home system speakers and wifi switches Sonoff etc. I changed internet providers and all my items needed to be repaired to the new WiFi. My new router is a dual router 2.4 and 5G. As you know all these products I have can only be paired by 2.4. My question is can I use this ZigBee device with my system and run everything rather through ZigBee or not? Thanks Leon

Hi. I really enjoy your content.
after seen this i went and bough some plugs and it connected with my Alexa beautifully.
after that, i went back and bought some light stripes... the problem is that it didn't change colours, so i went back and bought the gateway, but it can't find the light strips... Any advice?

How many devices can you connect to each bridge and what kind of coverage does it give? Would you need one upstairs and one downstairs?

Do you have any experience with the remote control that comes with the lighting starter kit? I bought a starter kit but can't get the remote to work (even after removing the battery dissconnection plastic!)

I understand that the 4th gen Echo Dots have a zigbee hub in them, will the plugs work with that?

Does the smart plug have a power monitoring option?
I found the Blitzwolf® smart plugs on Banggood and those cost about half and do have power monitoring built-in, also the smart lights from Blitzwolf® are much cheaper than the Lidl ones, the main difference between the two is that Blitzwolf® is using wifi instead of ZigBee, it has its pros and cons of course but I don't want to install any app or have to use and buy the extra hub to control everything because I already have Google Assistant and just don't want to add anything smart that doesn't work straight away with the Google Assistant.
I know that Google Assistant does work with ZigBee but I don't know if that is through the ZigBee hub or directly communicating with ZigBee devices, do you know anything about that?

I think it's worth pointing out that the hub is not compatible with Amazon Alexa. Even if you use the Tuya smartlife app.

Hey I'm trying to connect to my Amazon Alexa echo 3rd gen to my Lidl silvercrest Zigbee hub where my smart light bulb is already connected but I'm having trouble with this. I can control the light bulb through the Lidl Home app perfectly however i want to connect the Alexa to the hub so I can enable voice control. Can you please help?
