I am a big Micro Four Thirds fan, but I want to stay objective and share some reasons why people shouldn't use Micro Four Thirds. This video isn't about bashing Micro 4/3 or exaggerating its short-comings, but this is more about setting the correct expectations for people who are interested in getting into Micro Four Thirds so that they don't get disappointed in the future due to unreasonable hopes on Micro 4/3.

Next generation is already here. The OM1 is pretty good in low light, at 3200. ISO color preservation is much cleaner than with my G9. I'm expecting the G9 II to be at least as good.
I am hoping for a new GX camera so that we can have the same performance with M43 range finder camears. That would be the perfect camera for me.

I find it interesting that photographers tend to believe that depth of field and noise are related to sensor size. I guess that it's because photographers compare systems at same f-number and same ISO. If photographers were comparing systems at same aperture diameter and same image brightness, they would realize that sensor size has nothing to do with DOF and noise. Capturing the same scene, at a given shutter speed, using auto-ISO, with a 12mm lens at f-2 on a MFT camera will have exactly the same DOF and noise as with a 24mm lens at f-4 on a FF camera. Granted, the ISO on the FF will be 4 times higher, but the images will be identical, except for the 4:3 vs 3:2 form factor. For the DOF, it's easy to verify on any DOF calculator. For the noise, on modern sensors, it is mostly shot noise, which depends only on the quantity of light collected through the lens. With modern sensors, other types of noises aren't very noticeable.
That said, when comparing at same maximum aperture diameter, for some applications, the lens selection for full frame can be more compelling than the lens selection for MFT. This is usually not a concern for landscape, or food photography, but possibly a show stopped for some wildlife photographers.

m4/3 is a great format with great image quality. I like to do infrared photography, which is something that requires a quality sensor with lots of latitude for post processing and my best picture was taken with an EM5 mkII. Depth of field is an obsession for some at the moment and I’m guilty of using it a lot too. I like to do that in-camera using full frame but the reality is that I could easily do it in post processing, especially now we have AI masking. I know some will think that heretical but it’s no different than making b&w pictures from a colour sensor.

Bottom line is m43 is good enough for any ametuer, i take photos inside churches even with an old E3, m43 against full frame, shallow depth of field on m43, use a longer lens, longer depth of field on full frame needs a shorter lens or stopping down to smaller apertures, full frame equals larger file sizes especially in raw needing far bigger storage and processing power to edit, each has its drawbacks but there are workarounds, i dont pixel peep, don't print bigger than A3 and post on social media, even my old olympus E1 will take decent pics inside churches and print a decent A3 provided you look at the photo as a whole and not inspect it with a 10x loupe
