Ready Brute Elite and Ready Brake on Motorhead Garage Show

Motorhead Garage filmed an install of our Ready Brute Elite tow bar with integrated Ready Brake supplemental tow brake on a 2007 Ford F150. They also show our Ready Brake surge brake and explain how it all works.

The Ready brake system will fit any vehicle that has a brake pedal but please make sure your vehicle is able to tow with 4 wheels down (also called flat towing or dinghy towing) before installing a Ready Brake.

Our Ready Brute Elite tow bar has the Ready Brake integrated into it making it all one piece. After initial installation, to connect the tow brake system you just attach our adjustable sling cable to a loop on the towed vehicle and the other end connects to the Ready Brake.

This video shows the original model of the Ready Brute Towbar. The original model was without a doubt the best towbar produced. Now they have redesigned it. My original model Ready Brute towbar wore out after 150, 000 miles and the company rebuilt it to the newest model. Fair enough. I made one trip with the new model (June 2024) took it off the motor home and it is now in the scrap iron pile. I purchased a new Blue Ox which is better than the new Ready Brute model but not near as good as the original model. If they still made the original model, I would buy one in a heartbeat. When engine not running the ease of power brake feature will not be in effect. That surge brake will be effective in braking with engine off in towed?

I installed this tow bar in a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailblazer. The brake cable would not engage my tow vehicle brakes. The included hardware didn’t properly fit the brake pedal. What a nightmare! The amount of pressure needed would snap the Drings. With the Jeep brakes not being energized the pressure needed to pull pedal was immense. It may work great on older vehicles. In theory I liked the idea. I wound up having to install a Roadmaster Invisibrake system.

I am sorry for your problems with the product I wish you would of called us so we could of walked you through them with a fix. We have been making this product since 1996 if it did not work on all vehicles we would be out of business. The Ready Brake does pull hard on the brake pedal but no harder than any of our competitors products pushing on a dead brake pedal. We do offer a vacuum pump to put pressure in the brake lines for the people that have to have them pressured up. Management.
