In this video, I am going to show you how to flatten a drawing in AutoCAD and AutoCAD lt. Flatten command, change command and macro to flatten the drawing.

To flatten a drawing using LISPs, macros, and scripts:
One or both of the following LISP routines, pasted into the command line in AutoCAD, will flatten a drawing.
This command changes the elevation of all objects to zero:
(command "_change""_all""""p""e""0""")

This command moves objects very high and then back down to zero:
(command "_move""_all""""""0,0,1e99""_move""_all""""""0,0,-1e99")

I have been using AutoCAD for 25 years, in various architectural practices and now freelance. I have always been told that you need the full version of AutoCAD and the flatten command does not work in LT, or get involved with complex macros etc. Everyone in the industry I have spoken to does not know how to do this and it has caused so many issues, delays and costs, when inheriting mainly survey drawings with objects in the Z axis. Thank you much for showing us such a simple solution. If only AutoCAD's help files could be this simple, or people in the CAD forums could keep things this simple. Thanks again, this will save me a lot of time and money in the future.
