Dorothy Day est une des figures américaines les plus influentes du XXème siècle. Co-fondatrice du Catholic Worker Movement, une œuvre d’hospitalité et de service des plus pauvres, elle s’est battue toute sa vie contre l’exclusion, la pauvreté, les injustices sociales et raciales. Dans une période marquée par de nombreux conflits mondiaux, elle s’est positionnée radicalement en faveur du pacifisme. Elle a su allier une vie de prière, inspirée par la Bible et les saints, et une vie d’action au cœur des luttes de son temps. Avec elle, entrons dans ce dynamisme à la suite du Christ : « ce que nous voulons faire, c’est changer le monde. »

Dorothy Day is one of the most influential American figures of the 20th century. Co-founder of the Catholic Worker Movement, a work of hospitality and service to the poorest, she fought all her life against exclusion, poverty, social and racial injustices. In a period marked by numerous world conflicts, she took a radical stand in favor of pacifism. She knew how to combine a life of prayer, inspired by the Bible and the saints, with a life of action at the heart of the struggles of her time.
