Pontiac Grand AM Won’t Start DIY FIX

If your Pontiac Grand Am won’t start, here the fix. No, it is very likely not your starter’s fault of a blown fuse. Most likely, it has to do with your vehicle security system. The GM PATS system is known to have a fault and has been recalled.
The PATS immobilizes your car. To reset the system:

1. Place the key in the ignition and close the door.
2. Turn key to the ON position. Security light in dash starts flashing. Wait approximately 10 minutes.
3. Security light goes solid after 10 minutes. Then it disappears after about 5 seconds. Wait 10 seconds after light disappears, then turn the ignition to the OFF position.
4. Wait 10 seconds, then you can now start your car.

Hope this helps!

If I ever manage to financially free myself, you sir are getting blessed. I was on the verge of a mental breakdown, stuck at work at 2 in the morning, and you saved the day. I hope life treats you and your family well. This will forever be my favorite YT video.

Last night I came to start my car and it wouldn't turn over nothing. I prayed and was brought to this video and by the grace of God this worked! Thank you so very much for sharing this information you just saved me hundreds of dollars that I didn't have thinking I needed to buy a new vehicle.

I honestly didn’t think this would work but after we swapped batteries and it still wouldn’t even try to turn over I knew it had to be a safety feature or a fuse. This trick definitely worked. You saved me from having to get it towed and a mechanic trip. Thank you!!!!

Just did this and it worked on my 2004 pontiac grand am! Thank you so much. It kept cranking but wouldn't turn over at all. Did this step by step and it started right up no problem! thanks a million for the guide

This electrical reset is only found on this site and it worked beautifully. I had spent 2 days replacing the starter, testing wires and relays, and pulling my hair out. Try this reset method in addition to the obvious battery terminal corrosion and battery voltage. Great work.

I don’t usually post comments but I wanted to say this worked!! Thank you so much for saving me money. I was at the gas station getting gas and when I went to turn my car on to leave it wouldn’t start! Thanks to this video I made it home without pouring out hundreds 🙏🏽

I’m commenting on this video because I’m amazed this actually worked. I tried jump starting my car and it won’t even jumpstart. I don’t know what the crap is up with Pontiac security systems but thank you for making this video.
