The bottom of the article says “it might be justifiable for those who are hardcore Alienware fans” …. who TF is that? 🤣

Alienware branding just means that their PCs were made by Aliens.

Alienware used to be high quality for high price. After Dell bought it, became low quality for high price.

The reason companies please their shareholders is because otherwise they can be sued by their shareholders. This is why companies like costco, whose CEOs own most of the stocks, aren't absurdly greedy

Legitimately the only reason why I got one for my wife was because her macbook had gotten stolen when our apartment got broken into and robbed. When it was time to use the renters insurance to replace the items they would let me get a prebuilt or a laptop but not buy individual components. So alienware prebuilt it was

Alienware and Apple do the exact same things. For whatever reason though people LOVE to over spend on crappy apple products but stay away from Alienware

I remember back in the early 00s, Alienware PC's were just off the shell parts bought from Tiger/Systemax built in Miami. Even back then, they charged a premium for slapping their alien logo on a generic Chieftec Aluminum tower, which back in 03/04, didn't cost more than 90 bucks, and they were terribly wobbly when empty. The cost of a similar sized Lian Li aluminum case like the PCII was 100 to 120, times haven't changed much, just now we have to deal with a ton of proprietary crap.

Just another argument for why corporate consolidation stifles innovation, kills competition, and drives prices up for us.

I still have an old Alienware that works decent. But when I opened it up to see if I could upgrade it, there are 2 metal cross braces that keep the fitment like 2 inches tighter on either side. They designed it so that you could never upgrade anything without compromising the stability of the whole set up.

Not even that but they are sooo expensive for what you get, the cases are literal pressure cookers and it’s put together by a blind man in a broom closet.

The only Alienware "PC" I've ever had and would ever recommend was the Alienware 15 R3 AW15R3 laptop. I got it when I was 15, and it was the coolest thing ever. I did a lot of travelling, so having a portable PC was awesome. Plus, that 2017 era of Alienware design was probably the best ever.

Alienware and Dell have NEVER had any good reputation when come prebuilt PCs. They would sell you high price pc. But they skipped on good quality parts. I know Cus in early 2000’s I worked in small mom/dad computer repair shop. Every Dell or alienware pc came in. We would throw out the motherboard, Cus 9/19 they were shit and broken. Power supply were often under powered so your force spend more money to send it for repairs.

This what they did and continued to do so. Sell you over priced hardware buy with cheap parts that would burn up/catch fire/weak power supply, force you send repairs. And they charge you hidden fees on repairs or extra warranty that DID nothing.

Dell/alienware are still a scam today. Do NOT buy either. I’ve been gaming since intel 8088 days and building pc since mid 90’s.

I mean… I would actually kind of love that! I have an old black Area-51 from 20 years ago that’s similar to the green one shown in the video. Over the years I’ve built 2 new computers in that case, but was bummed that the lighting stopped working. My new build is in a more modern Thermaltake case, but I do still have the old Alienware case with my last build in it.

My college has an eSports section, they have Alienware computers because of a sale they got. The storage is small and they can NOT upgrade it without getting an external or server storage
