‘Elf’ and ‘Godfather’ Star James Caan Dies at 82

Legendary actor James Caan has died at the age of 82. His family said in a statement: "It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Jimmy." He co-starred in one of the greatest movies of all time, "The Godfather," playing Marlon Brando's hot-tempered eldest son, Sonny Corleone. Caan's iconic career spanned over 40 years and earned him multiple award nominations. He also starred in other classic films like, "El Dorado," "Misery," and "Elf."

It was the first thing I thought of at his actual death. That sounds callous, but it feels like a compliment. His loss is memorable either way.

Wow, James Caan is up there in my book with Jack Nicholson, Robert Duvall, Gene Hackman, Jon Voight and others.
He's that character actor that you'll either love or hate, depending on which role they decide to play. And they're good in any role or genre.

I was just recently watching one of his movies yesterday (Freebie and the Bean 1974) and mentioning to myself its amazing he's still alive today at the ripe old age of 82. Rest in peace sir.

I feel like I knew James Caan even though he was an actor who played movie roles. I am still sad. He made people care about him.

My favorite James Caan role was Thief. All his planning and hard work finally paid off when he finally broke into the safe and sat down to enjoy his cigarette. A job well done. Took pride in his work. Mastered his trade. Took care of his wife and child. Even though he could only achieve the American dream by being a diamond thief I routed for him and was devastated when the dream was in turn stolen from him.
