I bought a green enameled Dutch oven by crockpot. It started chipping within a month and continues to terribly chip. I don’t use it for food anymore. When I contacted the company they said they would take a look at it, but I would be responsible for shipping back the very heavy iron Dutch oven (which would cost the same as purchasing it) they would then see if it was something the warranty covered and if it was then they would give me a new one (I can’t remember if I would have to pay the shipping back, this was about two years ago). SO PLEASE NO ONE BUY A DUTCH OVEN MADE BY CROCKPOT! there is no way to recover the money I lost

Amazon Basics DOES have enameled cast iron cookware. I just ordered an Amazon Basics enameled cast iron casserole/braiser in white (actually cream color). Please review the Amazon Basics enameled cast iron dutch ovens.

Great review! One thing I’ve noticed with enameled Dutch ovens is that they retain heat exceptionally well, making them perfect for bread baking. If you’re aiming for that crispy, golden crust, preheating the pot before adding the dough is key.

Even if I experience some sticking, when browning in the Staub, I have never burned anything.

Mine is a Lodge, and to be honest, it has done well. The finish has chipped (Lodge is notorious for that) and there are stains I cannot remove. But it has performed like a champ for many years. I really REALLY want the Staub. No particular reason, I just LOVE the utilitarian no fuss/no frills look and I know that's a hard-wearing, hard-working cooking pot that is gonna help me feed my family. And that's what I want and why I think it's worth the price.

Being a Total newb and not knowing what exactly I need and what I will do with it on the BBQ (and how often) the only thing I know is that these things will outlive you. I just bought a second hand lot of 3larger emaille pans, a sauce thing and 2 small flat bare castiron pans from an estate sale. This for 30 euro. Thats something different than 400 dollar for one that will be sold from my estate when I pass away.

Folks, if you get a regular cast iron pan or dutch oven and season with properly... it will perform better than the enameled in some areas.. I'd highly recommend.. It's an easy process, oh, and you never have to worry about chipping or discoloration... worst case scenario, you can clean it down to the iron (getting rid of all seasonings... i dont recommend it unless it's a very serious rust or something) and starting over with a couple of layers of seasoning that will have the pan feeling brand new.
Enameled are pretty and work great for many things.. but I'd say overall, regular is more durable and can perform just as well.... The main reason i have enameled is because I can cook acidic things like tomatoes, chicken parm, and other dishes, and it does not wear down the seasoning .. try everything and see what works best for you. You may be surprised

I bought a used Le Cruset from Ebay. Don't have $400 for a pot. But i love it! Use it every other week, at least. Best soup pot ever! I have a glass cook top. There are some scratches on it, but I'm not sure from the pot. If someone would like to gift me a brand new pot....mine is brown. A brighter color would be great.

I've never found the Staub or Le Creuset for much less than$400, let alone $200 something. But I buy Tramontina from Costco and get TWO good, decent, Dutch Ovens for under $100 (a 3.5 and 5.5 qt). For the money of the others, I can use and abuse them. If they fail, or damage, I can get EIGHT good Dutch Ovens for the price of ONE Staub or Le Creuset. Just won't have the "bragging rights" of saying I have something fancy. The two of them cook just fine and have never had any dish come out badly. Are they the "best" no, but the slightly smaller handles aren't that small to handle and the dimples on the lid aren't quite as good as Staub for drips back into the oven. But for 4 times the price and only get ONE, I can deal with those minor things.

I have a cast aluminium with a glass lid and nonstick coating cost me £15. I've had it 10 years and no signs of wear yet.

And the best is a vintage Griswold, preferably chromed so you see the pretty shiny silver outside. It’s all cast iron inside.

Staub all the way. The step up in flavor and browning is very noticeable. Got really good deals between sales and amazon warehouse. Got 2 in size of 24 and 26 centimeters at less than the price of one 24 cm, in premium colors as well!

You are not telling where it's made that will make the difference. Problem with chinese is we don't know the heavy metal content, whether it is free of lead and cadmiun that could leach into the food. Staub is the safest.

Misspelling Creuset as "Crouset" is distracting and not professional.

Don’t listen to her. In life you always get what you pay for.
She’s getting paid under the table by Amazon.

Why are we comparing $400 products to $80 products? That is ridiculous.
