*VScode* is the best text editor right now 🙂. And for Flask vs Django debate, *Flask* is a microframework i.e you have to setup each and every package for the backend stack. This will actually help you in the long learn since you know how each and every piece of your stack works.

*Django* is batteries included and does a lot of behind the scenes "magic" to facilitate for a easier learning curve. But that, in my opinion hinders a newbie backend developer into knowing what is actually happening.

So I would suggest making a hobby project in flask, know how your backend stack is set up and then move to Django. 🙂

VSCode is definetely a good choice. I love VS Code, it's cross platform, and is very good with python and all those stuff.

Flask is easy and more customisable not like django to use their predefined rules. On flask u make your own rules. You architect your own system on your own way.
In django you write your code according to framework rule

How I see it is if your app is more backend heavy use Django and if its more front end heavy then use Flask....If I have only one user account as the admin (or none at all) then use flask, if I have multiple user accounts to deal with then use are fantastic

I’m killing my brain with Flask, I can’t even imagine Django.
I know Flask is easy, but it’s so complex.

VS Code. Save disk space and learning curve, Python, HTML, CSS, JS can all be coded and more, no need to keep switching between IDEs.

Thanks for this explanation. I have a question please: do I need to learn JavaScript along with Python to use Django or is Python enough?

As someone who is learning both Django and Flask, I would recommend learning Flask first. It's a lot more concise and has fewer concepts to learn, enabling you to get yourself up and running faster. Django has many features and the issue with Django is that it expects you to use its features and not other code, meaning you have to know your way around a lot more code to do things properly.

I worked in a place where Django was used and it was always some part of the codebase I stayed away from. I've since gone through the Django tutorials and it's starting to make a lot of sense, but there are many concepts that beyond basic web development. That's why I put that to one side and am focusing on Flask now, so that I can stick to what I need to know.

As for IDEs, my recommendation for new people is always to use the most basic text editor for a month or so to get used to doing everything manually. Once you've got that down, you can switch to a fully fledged IDE and develop a lot faster. I've noticed that people who start with an IDE tend to have less direction and let the IDE guide them, which I don't think is good long term.
