I bought one like this gonna put in my truck for a 8 Rockford fosgate amplifier setup heard good things can't wait to hook it up.

You’ve got a great thing going on!

I love your videos and my wife will watch with me occasionally and with your teaching method she now has quite a handle on what makes things work (without magic) on our boat!

I have a BALMAR 80 amp alternator and ARS smart regulator (both are over ten years old but work perfectly).
I'm using two (2) DEKA DT31 105 AH Batteries for the house connected to an OFF-1-ALL-2 battery switch and a classic Pro Mariner Fly Back 10 charger with the 2nd and 3rd battery charge terminals bridged as per Pro Mariner instructions for my two batteries.

I want to install an additional small U1 12V 350 CCA tractor battery to start my freshly overhauled Atomic Four engine. The only reason in 25 years of owning my Pearson I want to add the starter battery is to keep my plotter, instruments, and autopilot from rebooting after a spike from starting the engine on the house bank.
We day-sail and are hooked up to shore power at the end of every day.
After 25 years I've never discharged my bank below 12.21 or so and the DEKAS last around 8 years.

I bought the ArgoFET and I hope it will separate and charge all three batteries.

I plan to keep the battery selector switch to cut off the house bank when I’m not aboard. Nothing is connected to the batteries when I’m not aboard.

I’m rewiring the engine, its instruments, the starter and alternator to the a new starting battery to isolate as best I can the house, lightning/corrosion bonding, and engine GROUNDS.

With the factory bonding I believe it won’t be possible to completely isolate so I must insure I have a good (additional) path to ground for the starting circuit should the negative cable at the starter, or fuse, or battery get ‘funny’ and feedback ground looks for another path.

Since “it isn’t easy” I have questions:

[1] Will this be a good application for the ArgoFET?

[2] Would another device be better suited to isolate and charge the vastly different battery capacities (2 105 AH paralleled and 1 small 350 CCA start battery). I’m aware of your warning of surge of different capacity batteries blowing fuses with a Cyrix-ct combiner. I have one sitting on my desk ready to return...

[3] With each fuse having six fault points- (the 2 crimps, the two terminal screws, and the two fuse clips) and 'best practice' FOUR fuses are required (26 potential fault points) is it possible to fuse the NEGATIVE side fewer times and save the worry (and yes expense) of 26 additional connections with the battery circuit?

[4] would the ArgoFET setup overcharge the starting battery if the house bank requires a deep bulk charge?

[5] What is the name of the unit that takes a little current from the charging house bank and shares it with the small start battery? You mention it but I cannot find its name or where to get one. Would that gizmo be a better solution for me?

Keep up the good work.

Thanks,
Gene

Can the isolators be used on automobiles? If so I would be looking for a video which shows how to make the connections to the two batteries and alternator?

I have an agm starting battery and a lithium house battery in my RV. What types of battery isolators will work to charge both. Specifically the Victron Energy ArgoDiode Battery Isolators 80-2SC

Would this isolator work on a lithium battery dual setup?

Hi Jeff, I plan to charge the main starting bank from the port alternator. The starboard alternator would then charge the house. And the gen alternator charges the gen battery.
Is there a device that would allow me to charge the house from the starboard alternator and also from the generator alternator depending on which one is running?
Or this isolator would do that with input from the generator alternator and outputs to generator battery and house battery?
All banks would also have input charge from the batter charger ac to dc.
Thanks

I am still in the process of redesigning my boat's electrical. My house bank is 2, 100 Ah Tppl AGM Interstate batteries. The Interstate rep told me these are really rebranded Odyssey batteries. My starting battery is a group 34 AGM West Marine battery. I have a Victron Argo Fet 100 A isolator. Another Marine electrical company told me that they don't recommend diode isolators because they have seen diode isolators fail closed. Have you ever seen these Victron Argo fet isolators fail and if so why did the fail??

Jeff - I see Victron has a 1 to 3. I want to feed TO 1)AGM starter, 2)sgl. Lifepo4 and 3) a 24V bank (2, 12v in series). How can i go about #3?

Hi!
Planning to add this product to my Regal Ambassador 255XL in an electrical overhaul. I am connecting a 75A alternator to the Argofet and then two battery banks, starters and house. I have no inverter, so no inverter/charger, but I do have a 50A charger.
-Would there be any reason not to connect the charger in parallell with the alternator?

Also, I´ve seen in your videos fuses on the connection between FET-output and positive bus bar (fused at the bus), is there any reason for this instead of just fusing closer to the alternator (or in my question above alternator and charger)?

Really appreciate your videos and effort to better electrical installations on our vessels.

@Pacific Yacht Systems I have the 100A fet isolating the input from my alternator to my house and starter battery. I want to replace my lead acid house battery with lifepo4. I'm planning on a 200AH bank charged with an Orion? dc to dc charger, will I still need the fet?

Sorry.. can I Connect, on a van, on the input conector, two wires? One From the alternator And other car battery? (Instead the car battery on the output one?). IS the only way my Peugeot start... Because I don't have D+. Second battery goes to the second output.

Question pleas!! If I have two engines. = 2 Altinators. connected to two Victron Argo FET 200. can thos two victron charge the same 3 banks?
I want both engines to charge the same battery banks. total of 3. Start, Aux and bow thruster

Would the ARGO FET 200-2 Battery Isolator work on a system with 2 LifePO4 battery banks (1x150Ah and 1x200Ah) being charged by a Victron Energy Blue Smart IP22 12-Volt 30 amp charger
and solar, no alternator. It is on my travel trailer not a boat.

Can I parrelel 2 deep cycle batteries and have a cranking battery run off a 2 bank isolator?

I am looking to redesign my boat's electrical system. I have been watching your videos and learning a lot. However, the more I learn the more questions I have. Would this device work if I have a flooded lead acid starting battery and a Firefly house battery bank or with an AGM bank? Does this device work with different battery chemistries? Are AGM, Firefly and flooded battery chemistries similar enough to charge at bulk and float with this device? I cant justify spending the money for Firefly batteries for a house system AND a starting battery. I have a Yanmar 2GM, it really doesn't really take a lot of power to start.

Hi 👋 I really need your help .how can I install a bettery isolator....i mean how should I need to do if I want to make electronic work properly ..how should I make up a wire between isolator and 2 battery 🙄

Hi, if i install this device on my boat do i still need the 1-2-both switch ?

Instead of using an alternator, would it work with solar panels or a wind generator? Also, this device does the same thing as the red manual 1, 2, all, off, selector but it does it all automatically?

Can you in simple terms explain the other 2 smaller wires attached? I would love to kinda geek out on this device but probably nowhere as deep as you are able to sir

I have a question about ratings of this device. Say for example we have an argofet 100-2 and the heavy duty alternator can deliver 300 amps, and each output of the isolator needs 90 amps simultaneously.... Is an Argofet 100-2 capable of handling this system?
I guess the number 100 means 100 amps but it is unclear whether this 100 amps is the rating for the input or either of the two outputs simultaneously!!! Can you help me on this dilemma?
