Thank you very much for highlighting this amazing program for generating depth masks of photos. I have used it to greatly improve several close-up pictures where the background was too bright. Strangely, your procedure using the erase blend mode did not always work, and I often had to make several attempts until Affinity photo generated the desired mask. Trying your method on another PC and on a MacBook failed completely. Fortunately, rasterizing the greyscale masks worked reliably, but the intensity of the channel mixer must be adjusted before rasterizing.
The computer I use are quite old: Lenovo X260 i7 16GB Affinity Photo 2.3.1; MacBook Pro 2016 i5 26GB Affinity Photo 1.10.8.
