Presentation from the Nordic & Baltic Design Summit 2024, Block 4: Design for a Sustainable Textile and Fashion Industry.
Pia Hansen, Lecturer and facilitator in strategic design thinking, Via University College and Helene Jensen, Designer & lecturer, Kolding School of Design, Denmark, talks about the project SPIN-IN for Sustainability.
The lifestyle and design industries face challenges in adopting and implementing innovative, sustainable practices and business models. Through the project “SPIN-IN for Sustainability”, several successful design sprints have been carried out over the last five years, focusing on sustainability in design, materials, and supply chains, and addressing issues of digitalization, circularity, and upcoming international regulations.
With over 40 companies and 100 participants collaborating with design schools, universities, and the Danish innovation cluster Lifestyle & Design Cluster, Pia will share experiences and inspiring stories about how the SPIN-IN-concept has demonstrated that design processes have been a driving force in moving companies forward in their journey toward circularity.
The Nordic & Baltic Design Summit 2024 was a conference organised by SVID, in close collaboration with Röhsska Museum and Svensk Form. The event brought together design organisations, decision-makers, and officials from the Nordic and Baltic countries to promote a green transition, circular societies, and attractive living environments - through the power of design.
The conference was funded by ÄK-N, the Nordic Council of Ministers' Committee of Senior Officials for Business Affairs, Region Västra Götaland, and Tillväxtverket, The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth.
