I am growing older realizing how I become closer to Stuart Staples and his band's music, lyrics, voice and visuals. Not that I share any of those talents myself but I deeply appreciate them since decades now.

Tindersticks are my hiding place. I listen to the music very rarely because it is a special treat to me that I do not wish to become "normal" or "used to". Like if I listen to it too often, it will fall apart under my touch. When I do listen to it, I feel wrapped in their soundscapes and Stuart's voice. It makes me feel safe and calm. I listen to Tindersticks to step outside the world, and draw on the memories for as long as I can. <3

It’s astonishing that the Tindersticks continue to find beauty, love, joy and heartbreak, year after year, album after album, without falter. Such a talented bunch of musicians that I’ve been privileged to follow since their second album. They could fart tunes into a microphone and and I’d find beauty in it.

Amazing what this song brings me !!…I know Tindersticks since the 90s.
It’s rarely that I hear people speaking out how beautiful, autonomously and timeless this exquisite band is! Band?? Can I call it a band anyway?
It’s more a good combination of some very highly, intelligent, educated people in their best state of mind. They have😅Always been in a very deep place in my heart.
Since I’ve been with my boyfriend, about seven years now, I actually only played it on my own, in my own place….maybe because it can be a thug and huge sound to share so people enjoy it immediately….or their reaction is;NO!!…
Most of the time I experienced that completely negative.
So last week he told me it was my turn to play whatever I wanted to play ( we’re both big collectors of vinyl since a young age, …1977…& together we are owners of 3400 records..so much to listen😊😅😂 & share)!!
And than I came to this song after we listen together to the album ‘curtains’… and I was so surprised I never took the time to listen to this particular song!!? Unbelievably good and so so sereen and totally our style of taste we have in common….
When it was finished we looked at each other and saw that we both were in tears….big big tears of love, beauty and full connection we’re running down our faces.
Thanx for your amazing music that made us realize we are in the right place together….forever ❤❤

At a dinner once with Stewart Staples and most of the rest of the band, he looked at me and said: "If our album ( their self-tiled debut, 'Tindersticks') is not a success, then I'm quitting and giving up on the music industry, Terry". We'd known each other for quite awhile at this point. I took a measured and purposeful pregnant pause as I starred at him across the table before I said: "Bullshit, Stewart, you are one of the most important songwriters in the history of Popular Music. Fortunately or not, I think that you know that too. You also know that you're not going to be able to stop doing this. You're an artist. After all, what else are you going to do?" So look at them now, all these years, now decades, later. More brilliant than ever before. Rejection is a big part of acceptance....
