The Bold Grenadier - English Folk Song

"One Morning in May" (Roud 140, Laws P14) is an English folk song which has been collected from traditional singers in England and the USA and has also been recorded by revival singers. Through the use of double-entendre, at least in the English versions, it tells of an encounter between a grenadier (or soldier) and a lady.

Lyrics have been traced to the late 17th or early 18th century. There are a number of textual variants, and the song has many titles. The most frequent in the Roud Index are "The Nightingale", "The Bold Grenadier", and "One Morning in May", in that order.

Im having hard times. But listening and translating these english songs is making me feel happy and joyful for this boring life. English culture and language were one of the things that made me happy and hopeful for some reason. I am glad you are sending these kind of videos. My origin is Arab but whenever I hear someone's speaking arabic, I feel like I'm going to cry any moment and try to find some place to hide. It's only making me feel fear, stress, anxiety, and despair. I have never had cousin throughout my whole life, or family ties whatever you say. I was also born from an incest marriage(cousin) so I have two diseases called McArdle and diabetes type two. So I have every reason to feel sad but English songs are just making me happy. That's what I wanted to say. There are still people who love listening songs like these. When I hear it's just giving me hope. And even though To Anacreon in heaven is a drinking song, it's giving me some vibe that I can never explain. It's a very special song for me for some reason.
