How Israel devastated refugee camps in the West Bank since 7 October | Oborne Unscripted

“It is very hard to lose five children and have nothing left. You can’t imagine the pain of losing your sons.”

Peter Oborne goes inside the Nur Shams refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, where Israeli air strikes, bulldozers and snipers are reducing it to rubble and ruin.

Residents of the camp say that recent attacks by Israeli forces have taken on a terrifying dimension not seen before, one that amounts to a form of collective punishment, in which civilians and infrastructure have been targeted indiscriminately without red lines or limitations.

In April, at least 14 Palestinians were killed and scores more injured as Israeli forces laid siege to the camp for more than two days, leaving bodies in the streets and ambulances and medical teams unable to reach the wounded.

At least 80 residents of the camp have been killed since 7 October, according to the local popular committee. About 300 homes have been destroyed and at least 2,600 have been damaged. The camp has been raided 28 times.

And still it goes on - despite the overwhelming majority the world’s citizens crying out ENOUGH. Our leaders have betrayed us and all humanity.

I often wonder how people who can do such acts can be so dehumanising that they can live in any society and think that they are normal. The explanation is the impunity from the west of any cost. We are no less to blame.
Thank you, Peter.

I know someone from the nur shams camp, he's an art teacher and is working in a youth center with children, he's saying they're absolutely devastated and need years of therapy. The children there don't want to even live anymore. This is the reality on the ground that Isn'treal is so proud of.

In August 2002 former Israeli Minister of Education Shulamit Aloni was interviewed on the radio and television program Democracy Now.
During the interview, she was asked:

Question: Often when there is dissent expressed in the United States against policies of the Israeli government, people here are called anti-Semitic. What is your response to that as an Israeli Jew?

Shulamit Aloni replied:

“Well, it’s a trick, we always use it. When from Europe somebody is criticizing Israel, then we bring up the Holocaust. When in this country people are criticizing Israel, then they are anti-Semitic.”

- Former Israeli Minister of Education Shulamit Alone

It’s heartbreaking. What would happen if the Palestinians were supported like the Ukrainians? How could anyone live that life without wanting total revenge? The Palestinians are the descendants of “the chosen people” I pray for them to have the last and loudest laugh. Thank you Peter for your humanity 🕊️🇵🇸✊🏽
