This video shows you how to download, install, and setup the DRD_Pitch&Gate-CV~, a Max for Live Device that enables you to translate MIDI note and velocity messages to 1v/oct Pitch and 5v Gate control voltages for controlling you modular synth.

Required Materials:
- A DC-Coupled Audio Interface (i.e. the Motu Ultralight Mk3, or similar)
- DRD_Pitch&Gate-CV~

im confused about those back outputs on the motu and how they act as gates? what are those outputs?

Extremely helpful, thanks so much for the max for live device and the tutorial. How would I proceed if I wanted to use your device for controlling the cutoff frequency of a VCF in my modular with a CV from ableton - would I still have to do some sort of tuning?

excellent video, thanks for sharing. Very interested in combining my modular with Ableton, but kinda dawnting really. Looking into the motu ultralite as well as a dc coupled interface(cheaper than expert sleepers modules)...but does it work fine, no issues? with the MOTU can I also send modulation like envelopes, lfo´s, etc...correct?

Hey Daniel great Max devices can you weigh in on the need for a floating ring cable thats TRS 1/4" to TS 3.5mm? Obviously it's working fine for you using the TS to TS but it's hard to find definitive answers out there and I'm unsure if the floating ring cable is necessary only for ES devices or if it applies to MOTU as well. I also have an Ultralite and am trying to explore the DAW to CV world more. Thanks.

Thanks for the video and the Max device! when you say analog out of your interface is that the same kind of Output as a balanced output? I dont understand this things very well and balanced out and rca out is the only things my interface has.

can you send more cv channels than pitch and gate? what if you want to control pitch, gate and a filter all at once for example? are you only limited by the number of motu outputs? also would you recommend the motu mk3 for a PC user with ableton and external modular gear?

my braids goes crazy when try to tune c1 from c0 using the max device. Im using the motu mk4, what could be causing this?

Would I be able to route midi from another max for live device (I'm thinking Coldcut's Midivolve generative sequencer) to this and then out to midi?

One thing that needs to said is you can send Triggers from any audio interface.
Gates + pitch require DC coupled Interfaces like new RME + Motu ultralite etc otherwise you will short out the interface and possibly shorten it's life. Sending sustained CV out of any interface to your speakers is baaad don't do it.
