This didn't help. I think everyone knows the idea of how increase of 1 on Richter Scale means 10 times more intense, but what is this actually measuring??
The teacher here indicates (I sub zero) as the baseline, but what the hell is that?
Is a 1 on the Richter Scale the size of (1) a feather landing on a carpet (2) the intensity of me kicking you in the butt (3) a car hitting a lamp post a 25 mph (4) a megaton bomb dropped in a parking lot?
That's the whole key, what is the damn measurement actually measuring?? There's enough videos and webpages out there telling us about logs and factors of 10, and vague explanations about different ranges of numbers being "minor", "moderate" etc.
