✚ Hello friends! Mood trackers are super popular in the bullet journal community. In this video, I have separated mood trackers into three main categories, and I'll talk a bit about a few different ways to track your mood within each category. I'll also try to answer the most important question: are mood trackers really that helpful?

✚ Still haven't figured out the glitch problem haha.

i have anxiety and depression, so its really helpful for me to have a record of my overall feelings. for mood tracking i find that a coloring book style really works for me in that i can easily see overall trends and the actually act of filling it out and thinking about my moods feels therapeutic. i totally agree with you about needing more than one color per day tho, and i find that my most successful mood trackers have allowed for multiple moods per day while not being so complicated i cant summon the energy to fill them out.
for example, last october my mood tracker was a page of pumpkins, and i would color them according to my most prevalent moods during the day: bright yellow highlights for happy moments, green spots where it was just ok, brown spots for bouts of depression, etc. i also combine this with regular journaling so i have a space to share more complex thoughts. i definitely want to try out mood lettering in the future tho!

A few years ago I was having serious depression and using mood trackers in my journal. I often used more than one color a day. I usually did a line spread a day as well. Plus I often had some type of gratitude page or affirmations page. These things definitely helped my mental health improve over time.

I agree with the year in pixels thing, I tried it to help keep track of my mental health, but it became more annoying than helpful by the end.
You look amazing btw 😘

I know this is an older video, but thank you for making it.
I also found myself struggling against the limitations of the mood trackers I've seen online. The example you used, while extreme has, in a way, happened to me. I had a lovely day, where I got to go to a concert, be with my friend, I even conquered a fear of mine (heights) etc. But when driving home from the concert (7PM), we got the news that a relative of mine passed away. Another example, I was celebrating my birthday when we got the news that the current situation had gotten so bad, that we were being issued a Stay at Home order.
Mood is complicated, and I thank you for taking the time to balance between that complexity and still having a tracker that it manageable to fill out. It will help me in my journey as a bullet journal-er. Have a lovely day! :D

I use a combined sleep and mood tracker with the days of the month on the y-axis and the hours of the day on the x-axis. My mood ranges from very sad - sad - happy - slightly angry - angry - furious. By different colours I can identify precisely when I was in which mood and even for how long that stayed. For example I can draw a thin line to indicate five minutes of anger at ten am or a three-hour-block of happines because I had tea and talk with a friend... And on the opposite page I write down shortly the cause.

I love the last idea for mood and the graph line for another tracker

I love the different ideas. I do like the simplistic 1 color tracker only bc I don't have a lot of time but want to track my general moods. I love the last one but sometimes I just don't have the words lol. I think it depends on the person and what's needed in their life. Thanks for the video!

Super useful ideas, definitely something for thought. I've always felt the one colour designs were hard to work around and ended up colouring in multiple colours in one box and it would just look messy lol

10:19 has the best and easiest mood trackers in my opinion and I think that they are awsome

I completely agree with you! When I first started tracking my mood in my journal, I almost always used colors. I found that that was just too much of a hassle for me too since sometimes I don’t have my markers with me. What worked for me in the end is the graph tracker of my mood, with colors of the mood on the left (happy, okay, sad, angry/tired, depressed) and the dots on the right. With this, all I have to do is connect the dots. I do daily journaling so it’s alright for me not to see the reason why I felt a certain emotion on a certain day; I can just refer to my daily entries. I also love how I can use multiple dots in one day when I have multiple moods!

Tha k you for this video. I am just starting out and you provided some many layouts and things to consider when I pick a tracker.

Thanks so much for sharing the variety along with pros and cons for each style. :)

I like the simplest yearly tracker because then I can see the entire year at once. I'm not a fan of having to flip through and look at each month individually. I also track my periods in a yearly spread, so I can compare my mood tracker to my period tracker and see how my cycle influences my mood. I put more than one mood per day though and will cut boxes in half diagonally to account for that. But I also journal almost daily, separate from my bullet journal, so I could always find a weird mood pattern in my tracker and head over to my journal to find out what happened to cause it.

I have chosen the last Mood Tracker for my January 2021 spread and I can’t wait to fill it out! I think now knowing that I can have more than one mood a day is helping me keep on track. As you said it was always more aesthetic rather than showing real emotion.

Hi! I know this is an old video but it was really helpful. I feel the same about one day color trackers. Honestly, it doesn't give you much room for explanation. And as someone who doesn't journal consistently I think I need something a little more. So, I was thinking of combining the one line a day and the word a month tracker, so the last two. I think it would be interesting that way I can use the categories as well as a few words to describe. Cause while the one line a day is great I think it needs an extra element that the last tracker had. Thanks again! Great video!

Oh... I just picked up my first mood journal to help with my therapy work and didn't realize the pixels and month wheels were one color. I was filling them up like stacked bar charts LOL. 50% content, 10% anxious, 2% angry, 18% hurt, 20% exhausted. Especially if your wheel boxes are long, it's not hard to approximate I think.

I looked up this video because it came with no instructions but maybe it's ok that it didn't, because I could decide a method that worked for me! 😊

I never really saw the point of mood trackers because they seemed so simplistic. What you say makes a lot of sense. I will probably try one or two of your more detailed ones.
