Navi Mumbai Airport was planned to commercialize activities in 2008. But due to political upheaval cause this delays, especially the Congress + UPA Government during 2004 to 2014. There was never a flooding in Ulwe river, except in 26th July 2005.
There is another plan of transport thru Ferry too to airport.
Due to cutting of hills in airport area cause climate change in nearby areas like Panvel City. Humidity increased. Winter also got reduced.
If you notice that Panvel Taluka/City is surrounded by mountains from all side. Its like Crater shape, a valley.
