Another was the 2 episode story of "the Bicycle Man" on Different strokes, S5 E16 and E17. Gordon Jump, who also played the CEO of WKRP in Cincinnati, owns a bicycle shop and starts showing Arnold and Dudley some dirty magazines and gets them drunk. Then it gets worse.

Okay, so without cheating, my guess is either the Cheers episode or the Family Ties episode where Alex mourns his friend, and I say the latter because that was a very special episode on Growing Pains.
