If they remove the dislike button for said reasons. They should also remove the like button. Those same reasons can be used for the latter. With a channel posting content that is scamming viewers, politically or financially driven, etc; They could “send” a small army of upvotes to simply earn credibility. Especially now, since there is no opposing viewer rating to compare to. Both or none is the only solution.

The "test" that they used for the dislike button is flawed. The fact is anyone who would press that dislike button "troll or not" will see no actual change. They will feel like it does nothing and so they will not care to press it. The fact is they removed it in order to get less dislikes on controversial videos.

Google only want channels that are popular with advertisers. But because they stated loosing money by demonitising a lot of videos they decided to keep all the revenue these videos make and not pass anything to the creator. I don't know why anyone would want to work with a company that does that. It's only a matter of time before they come for you.

I'm almost done with YouTube. I've been transitioning over to other sites. And I foresee myself purging all tech from my life soon anyway.

I believe it will help creators in the long run but its my opinion the dislike count was removed for political reasons.

I’ve noticed I’m getting recommended videos from YouTuber’s because they have high views from a particular video. It’s always a new YouTuber I’ve never heard of, which I love because I love discovering & seeing new faces. BUT when I check out their account, they almost always are someone who aren’t very active as far as posting videos. Pretty sure they’re only being recommended because of their *one* viral video. Of course, I will always subscribe if they seem interesting 🙂🙂

You didn't even answer the damn question. How am I going to look up a tutorial and tell if that's a bad or good tutorial? YouTube didn't provide an answer for us... we're still waiting.

And they try to pretend they care about creators.

Lemme guess, they'll disable monetization for those channels for now and in the future enable it without giving any of the revenue to the creator.

They done the same to small creators, before the YPP requirements anyone could monetize, now only people with 1K subs and 4K watch hours within the last 12 months can monetize. YouTube recently enabled monetization for those smaller creators without permission and takes 100% of the profit. I do admire their careful sneaky tactics.

Number 3 could be a disaster. For instance if you don't like a certain video's political bent, you could copy it, delete it, then request that no one else be allowed to copy it and put it on youtube. A good tool to censor your political opponents. It wouldn't stop the original one that you copied, but it would stop many copies of it being on Youtube.
