"Who is it aimed at, who would want to buy an £80 phone?"

People who can't afford a more expensive one, I presume... Plenty of people in this country on min wage, zero hour contracts, unemployed... bit of an insensitive question tbh

This was really helpful. My son is extremely clumsy and doesn’t care for things as he thinks money grows on trees. Broken iPhones galore. Now he can have one of these instead. Nothing taken away from them as I was thinking I may pick one up to travel with instead of my iPhone.

When you want to call, text, app, use social media, send mails, listen to music, take notes or watch some youtube these phones are fine and for a price many people can afford.

I hope that Alcatel will bring back the 5, 8" screen size again. I really hate the large Android phones of today.

I'm sure you could have turned up the screen brightness on the Alcatel....And out of interest..which I am sure you won't answer. But did you just use "as is"....ather than actuall setting up the phones to Chelseas taste?...eg she could have set the screen brightness's etc before starting who doesn't fiddle with a phones settings to set things as they like...like the screen brightness etc befire you actual start using it....And were any of the phone setup ut of the box in energy save modes?....which could also be why the screen might have been a little duller....All these things make a difference when testing...But I assume we will never know...For the price you could probably buy a secondhand phone with much better specs...plenty out there.

Nokia has really fallen behind. My mother had a Nokia 2 & it was an absolute piece of garbage. Camera quality was poor, storage on 8GB & 1GB of RAM. It ran the full Android 7 tho. She now has a Samsung M11 & that's a beast for the price. I wouldn't recommend the Nokia to anyone. If you are looking for a decent budget smartphone they check out Samsung & Xiaomi & Poco as well

I don’t and never will rely on sat nav. I managed without it for 70 years so I don’t need it now.

Couldnt go back to budget or a screen less than 6.8 inch having the oneplus 8 pro, s20 ultra and note 20 ultra.
The galaxy a52 i had was slow buggy 3gig of ram is just not enough.

What a quirky review Alcatel brand is actually Nokia AB but licensed out to TCL ....
The NOKIA here is HMD Global.
And finally the Moto.... belonging to joint owner Lenovo & The Chinese Government
WOULD I BUY ANY .... DEPENDS..
If boot loader is unlockable, allowing a customized Linux OS to be installed, then YES...
In general all mobile manufacturers BREAK THE LAW AND PREINSTALL BLOATWARE AND SPYWARE...
Only one company does that I'm aware of and that is HMD Global but if there are programs installed you don't want, need or require.... easy to remove with any apk package manager.

They all shouldn't be called smartphones, some should be called average intelligence phones and really crap phones should be called thick phones

If you don't mind China having access to your data, choose the Motorola.

My gran is always buying new smart phones says the old one doesn't work properly 😂 no I've tested all her old phone's not a thing wrong with them it's just she's old and crap with technology 🤣 makes me laugh she's always phones me saying my new tablet or my internet or smart TV ect doesn't work u get over their and she has made like the most basic mistake that anyone would realise I try and tell her their nothing wrong u are going to have to just keep things simple a landline and just a dumb mobile gets the job done and would make her life so much more simple plus she has a drawer full of descent smartphones just going to waste and I mean like Samsung a series and a couple of decent lg phones at the time it they were bought, so I'm going to put them on Facebook for sale she has at least ten phones will get her probably a couple hundred pounds maybe more .
